Disaster in Jamaica
December 20, 2008

,

We had a most unfortunate incident earlier today.

A truck with over 20 vendors on their way to the Portland market had an accident. Over 14 died on the spot! Whew!

These were all from the West Portland area going to peddle their produce in the market today.

From early reports, there was a parked car facing the truck on the narrow strip of road, so the the truck driver stopped on his side further down to allow a line of vehicles to pass.

Unfortunately, the embankment started to wear and the truck disappeared in down a precipice over 35 feet deep!

There is a lot of gloom in Jamaica now.

There is more to come, but just an FYI to you. Please pray for those still alive and the families of those gone.

Regards,
Wellesley
