Arthur Wint won Jamaica's first Olympic Gold medal - the 400 metres in the London, 1948 Games. In the same games, he also won the Silver medal in the 800 m.
In 1952, he again won the Siver in the 800m and another Gold in the 4 x 400 metres Relay.
After qualifying as a doctor, he returned to Jamaica and settled in Hanover - where he was the only doctor.
