How has music impacted the Jamaican society?

by Sabrina
(Montego Bay)

QUESTION:.

How has music impacted sexually and violently on the Jamaican society?

ANSWER: by Wellesley Gayle December 08, 2009

This is another interesting, highly debatable, and very controversial one Sabrina.

No doubt, Reggae music has helped to place and maintained Jamiaca's name on the world stage.

Thanks to the early success of people like Bob Marley, Jimmy cliff, Dennis Brown etc. but I personally think that aspects of the dancehall music has negatively influenced the society - we can pull many recent examples.

I'll solicit the views of my fellow Jamaicans on this topic though.

reggae music has impacted a lot to our Jamaican society and to thank Bob Marley for his tremendous work along with other Jamaican artist.
