Jamaica, I will soon be there! Just 44 more sleeps to go!

My Buddy Marcus by the Pool

44 more sleeps and I will be there, in what I consider my little corner of paradise!

I will be landing in Jamaica on the 21 of February and staying in Ocho Rios at Rooms for 3 weeks. We can't wait! You never know Wellesley, maybe we can get to meet you while we are there.

And on another note, the guy that sent you the question on going to Jamaica and being white if something was going to happen to him -well from my experience of going to this country for the last 22 years, nothing is going to happen to you unless you go looking for it.

I'm as white as the driven snow and we get around just fine. I have more people say "Good Morning" to me in Ocho Rios than I do in my own hometown.

I think your safe.

Jamaica is what you make your vacation
by: AnonyGurl

I've been to Jamaica many times...have used the same common sense that I use in my home country/city along with when I travel to other countries.

Things happen, in all countries and if you are thinking that it won't happen to me because I am on vacation...think again. I have seen muggings in Toronto, a shooting in London, and many drunk bar fights while at home, living abroad and while on vacation.

As the saying goes, SH*T HAPPENS! Please, you are judging a place by a robbery, something that does not happen everyday and also happens in our own hometowns!

And if you could not find something to do in Negril, boy-oh-boyz you are boring because I have never had a problem finding fun in Negril, and I travel solo, am white and am female. Also never felt unsafe! Oh, and I don't stay in an all inclusive, I stay JA style, in yaad!

I too have a count down on the go...whoohoo, 26 more sleeps...until I feel that soft white sand beneath my feet, here that lovely reggae sound, and enjoy the company of some of the nicest people I have met! Soon Come!

Wishing I was going there soon
by: Iris

I have to totally disagree with the comment for this post. I have been to JA many times and have always been welcomed with open arms.

The Jamaican people are always very nice and friendly to me and I've never had anyone trying to beg from me. They always offer to share whatever they have with me.

My only conclusion about this person and their bad experience is that they didn't treat the Jamaican people with any respect.

You don't go to another country and treat the people like your personal servants.

Show some respect and maybe you will get some respect. If you had a miserable time, don't go to JA. Leave it to those of us who love the country and the Jamaican people.Oh, I'm from New York and white.

Would never recommend Jamaica
by: Anonymous

Jamaican's are very unfriendly people for the most part. We never felt safe there.

There was a hold up and murder at an all inclusive in Negril with three gun men when we were there. The only time Jamaicans are friendly is when you give them money or buy things from them. Otherwise they give you looks that could kill.

No snorkelling, nothing to see. No fish left in ocean. Taxis are a rip off.

So many other great places to see.
