Contest Entry #033 - Jamaica, Or Bust
The trip of a lifetime!
I decided to take my entire family, my five grown boys plus girlfriends to Jamaica, my favorite home away from home, to spend Christmas and New Years 2011.
My mum, their beloved Grandma, had just passed away the previous spring, and she, being a Christmas baby born on December 25, was there with us every step, in spirit!
We rented a glorious villa overlooking the magnificent Caribbean, even though our walk down to the village of Greenwood was one of 'several minutes' duration, and of MORE than several memorable moments, meeting up with the locals, including our middle of night trip home followed up the scarcely lit hill by a family of donkeys!!
Highlights of our stay included celebrating Christmas Eve in the picturesque village of Falmouth, full of history and local vitality.
Sans snow, the tree was fully lit and seemed a mile high. We were thrilled to be part of it all.
We returned back to Falmouth several more times, to the market, watching the locals catch unheard of seafood delicacies right out of the sea and on to our plates. As you can see by the picture, we even had help trying on our new purchases!!!
New Years Eve in Mobay was a huge adventure in itself. Cheering on the Canadian World Junior hockey team and OUR own favorite Winnipeg
Jets brought everyone in the Twisted Kilt Bar to our table and I can still here the echoes of Go Jet Go, to this day!
