I have dubbed Thom Bell as King Midas. Everything he touched turn to gold. To me he is the greatest arranger of soul music. Jamaica should honour him. Charles P Williams

Big Band Arrangement question NEW

Hello Mr. Bell,

I don't know if you are actually reading these comments, but I hope you are!

I am connected with the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra Big Band here in New York City. I was in that band for 15 years, left in 2007, and I am still friends with the group.

They contacted me today and asked me to transcribe your arrangement of "Don't Let The Green Grass Fool You".

Instead of spending many hours transcribing this wonderful arrangement, I was wondering if you still had it and perhaps the HRO Big Band could buy it from you? If not I would definitely understand, it was quite a while ago.

You see, I'm the granddaughter of your cousin, Archie Bell, and I'm currently doing research to find and hopefully meet more of this side of my family. Deserving The OJ

Before there was Bob Marley there was THOM BELL. I believe that is as impacting on the world of music as Bob as been.

Like Claude McKay Jamaican I have no idea how much these persons have changed the world with the incredible talent. There is probably not one living human being over the 45 years old and live in the western hemisphere that has not been moved by the magic of THOM Bell's arrangement.

We should honour this man - even if he left Jamaica at an early age. We should honour him for his greatness and to remind especially the young generation that this country is remarkable and that it will continue to produce Thom Bells , Bob Marleys and Usain Bolts. The next great person can be them.

Thats surprising!

Imagine that Ive never heard this mentioned in our Jamaican media before. I have to do some research on this gentleman whose name has stood out in my mind from I was a little girl listening to my moms Stylistic lp back in the days over 35 years ago. It would be wonderful and a delightful welcome to our list of great Jamaicans in the entertainment field.
