The Latest from Jamaica!

  1. E10 Gasolene Is Here

E10, a cheaper, sugar cane-based fuel that comprises gasoline and ethanol, was launched earlier this month by the energy ministry. The idea is to reduce our dependency on fuel.

And from all indications it is making waves.

Take a look at these reports covering The Lauch of E10 and the positive response it is getting.

  2. Jamaican Heads Int'l Criminal Tribunal

"Patrick Lipton Robinson, a Jamaican judge serving at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, assumed duties as president of that tribunal on Monday....."

    More in this article.

  3. Our Leaders Voted for Death Penalty

"Members of the House of Representatives voted by nearly 2-1 in favour of retaining the death penalty at Gordon House yesterday, setting off loud cheers from pro-death penalty MPs and mixed response on the streets of Kingston, including from rights advocate Dr Carolyn Gomes who described the result as a backward step..."

    The full story here.

  4. An Alarming Tourist Practice

"TWENTY PER cent of tourists who participated in an HIV and AIDS survey indicated that they have had sex with acquaintances that they met while on their trip to Jamaica, with only 49 per cent reported using condoms..."

Full report in this Gleaner article.
