Re: What's Your Dream Jamaican Christmas?
My dream Jamaican Christmas is one in which Christ and therefore love is the centre of all the celebrations and gunmen recognizing the value of their life and others and giving up their guns; people freely enjoying life and our great culture – the food (such as Christmas cake, sorrel, wine, ham, jerk pork, roast chicken, curried goat, rice and peas, roast breadfruit, chocolate tea); family and friends get together; giving of gifts to family, friends and the needy; caroling on the streets early Christmas morning followed with early Christmas morning service and later in the day or on Christmas Sunday evening – Christmas Cantata or Christmas Concert and/or Christmas Play as we ‘re-live’ the birth of Christ.
Prior to Christmas Day I will go shopping with my mother in Montego Bay to get gifts and to do window shopping of course (never able to afford everything but that’s fine – some things are not needs ).
I also want to bake Christmas cakes to share with others – the scent of the cake from various kitchens is very captivating at this time of the year – it conjures a great feeling to the passerby.
My sister lives overseas and has not been home for Christmas in a long time. I would really love for her and her family to be here for this Christmas. She visits Jamaiaca every other year but not at Christmas time.
I would love my dream to be reality. Thank you!
