Supporting Padmore Primary School- St. Andrew, Jamaica
by Sheron Pearson
When I read the story of the wheelchair bound teacher at Padmore Primary School in rural St. Andrew, my heart went out to her unselfish act of courage in the face of her adversity.
Shortly thereafter I read of another account where the Principal of Padmore Primary School was soliciting help after depleting her own funds which she'd saved over her years of teaching.
I guess it was divine intervention that led me to reach out to Keisha Hayle, Padmore's principal to investigate further her struggles.
I learned of her superhuman feat in turning around a struggling school slated for closure, to one where the children are nurtured and coached to the point that they competed in a National Primary Schools Challenge and acquitted themselves well.
Padmore Primary is in need of so many things, it's difficult to know where to start, but I think most important is the food program.
Ms. Hayle states that hungry children cannot learn - something we all know to be an incontrovertible fact. "As soon as those heads start hitting the desk during the school day, I know the children are nutritionally deprived".
I'm starting a campaign, to solicit funds for what I have established to be a worthy cause, there are so many other Padmores in Jamaica, but God is directing me to this one.
Won't you help by sending your donation small or large to NCB, (National Commercial Bank) A/C# 324149252 - Padmore Primary School.
