Is September a good month to visit Jamaica?

Is September a good month to visit Jamaica? || Answered by Kadian Clarke, Associate Writer

Ye it is! Certainly from my perspective, but there is a caveat.

Since every month presents its own unique flavour, it is good to know what exactly you are looking for in your vacation.

Be it the weather, events and happenings, the food, or some other personal preference.

Below I have provided a list of information that will better help you to determine whether or not September is the perfect month for you to visit Jamaica.

So, let’s first talk about…

The Weather

Conventionally, the rainy period runs from April to November. June, July and August are generally the driest months though.

Then there is the hurricane season, which begins in June and ends in November. However, the likelihood of a tropical storm hitting Jamaica in September is 2%, although we recommend you still get trip insurance.

You can read more on travel insurance for Jamaica here.

And it you are wondering how raining it gets in September, don’t be alarmed. It is not as bad as you may think.

It mostly rains at late evenings and sometimes early in the mornings, but are often done after a short quick moment; it is not usually enough to spoil your day.

According to Current Results Information and Science Facts, this is what the weather for the month of September is like for the most popular tourist destinations on the island.

And Negril?

Negril Jamaica, which is another famous tourist location, has 10 hours of sunshine daily with partly cloudy skies.

It may rain occasionally in Negril but showers are brief and pleasant and will by no means discourage you.

One more reason to choose September

For those who are travelling on a budget, September also is a good month. It is a part of the low season and hotel rates are usually still cheaper at this time.
