Fishermans Point in Ocho Rios Jamaica

There is certainly no shortage of choices when it comes to accommodations in this tourist town. Luxury resorts and villas, budget-friendly hotels, and self-sustainable Airbnb are all among the offerings. However, if you are looking for something more unique, The Fishermans Point in Ocho Rios Jamaica, offers an option you may have never considered.

The Fisherman's Point is an eccentric mash-up of a condominium and a resort. You will find a full-service restaurant and bar on-site, and all rental units have kitchenettes. Because the accommodations are roomy and cooks and babysitters can be hired for a fee, it's an excellent place for families and groups. A fully stocked playground and wading pool with a slide are available for children. On the grounds is a commissary as well.

So essentially, you get the full services and amenities of a full-scale resort, but the condominium-style provides you with privacy and the feel of being home.

Accommodations at Fishermans Point

With 74 rooms available, you can trust that this condo-style resort will not be overcrowded. While the rooms available can not be considered as luxurious and are not pretentiously decorated, they will provide all the necessities and basic comforts you will need to ensure your stay is enjoyable.

Much like other more traditional resorts, Fisherman’s Point offers three tiers of accommodations. They are:

  1. One Bedroom
  2. One Bedroom Deluxe
  3. Two Bedroom Units

The one-bedroom units offer:

  • One queen bed or two twin beds
  • Ocean or mountain view
  • Private balcony
  • Ceiling fan and Air Conditioning
  • In-room safe
  • Satellite TV with premium channels
  • Kitchenette with full Refrigerator, stove
  • (Maximum occupancy is 3 adults or 2 adults & 1 child)

The two-bedroom units offer:

  • Two separate bedrooms with one queen bed and two twin beds. Some units may have a loft design.
  • Two terraces
  • In-room Safe
  • Air Conditioning and Ceiling fans.
  • In-room Telephones
  • Kitchenette with full Refrigerator, stove and microwave
  • (Maximum occupancy is 5 adults or 4 adults & 2 children)

Dining at the Fisherman’s Point

You will be happy to know that there is a full restaurant and bar located on-site, so daily meals will not be an issue for you if you decide to spend time at this resort. However, if you rather venture out into the town to grab a meal, here are my top 3 recommendations:

Ocho Rios Jerk Centre- One of the greatest places to have jerked meals and meet up with friends in the heart of Ocho Rios is at this jerk centre, which is located at 14 DaCosta Drive. Grab some jerk chicken or pork, some festivals and a cold beer while you enjoy the music and have great conversations with your friends and family.

Miss T’s Kitchen- The go-to spot for lunch and dinner with real Jamaican food. Everyone can enjoy the homestyle cuisine at this restaurant. For assurance that their meals are made in accordance with their dietary requirements, vegetarians and vegans can consult the dedicated vegan menu.

Margaritaville- Margaritaville Ocho Rios is ideally situated in the heart of Ocho Rios, across from Ocho Rios Bay Beach in Island Village. The eatery offers delicious meals rapidly all day long. You can eat anything, including seafood with an island twist or Jerk chicken or pork. The grill is always hot, and Margaritaville is known for serving some of the best burgers on the island.

Activities at Fisherman’s Point

At Fisherman’s Point, you don’t have to be cooped up in your apartment. Numerous water sports and other activities are available for you to enjoy. On the grounds, there is a free-form swimming pool as well as a wading pool for children, although visitors may prefer to go to the beach to try kayaking, snorkelling, water skiing, windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving, parasailing, or fishing. For a fee, all of these activities can be planned along Turtle Beach. Furthermore, two 18-hole golf courses are a short 30-minute drive away. One of Jamaica's most breathtaking and popular attractions, Dunn's River Falls, is only a few kilometres away for those looking for a more challenging excursion. Climbing the falls to the very top is a bucket list experience for many.
