Mike Masaad

Mike is one of those persons who came to Jamaica, adapted, adopted and can now be considered Jamaican in more ways than one. Mike has inspired many of us, and through his personal efforts, has helped many small business, particularly in the Negril area to get recognized.

We thought he would be a perfect fit for an interview, not only because of his philanthropic gestures, but also because of his deep love and passion for Jamaica.

Here now is Mike, I hope you will enjoy his interview.

1. Hi Mike, thanks again for accepting our request to speak to you. Please take a moment to tell us a bit about yourself, including anything else you'd like our readers to know about you.

Thanks Wellesley. My name is Mike and I'm the CEO of Travel2Negril.com. I have been a professional webmaster and website designer for over 10 years.

2. Why Travel2Negril.com? What inspired you?

I created Travel2negril.com because of my love for Negril and to give a the smaller businesses in Negril a chance to to be recognized.

I have been to Negril 19 times since 2005, averaging 3-4 visits per year. I have helped many local Jamaican friends in Negril, either to start a business or giving insights and help in everyday I could.

The more I helped someone, the more I wanted to help all those in Negril. So I decided to use my talents to help promote all of Negril. I created the website to focus on all that Negril has to offer.

3. Your business was voted the best source for tourist information for Negril, Jamaica! That's awesome, tell us about that!

Yes, Travel2negril.com was voted most informative website for tourism information for Negril. We were voted by newbies and regulars alike.

4. Any new plans?

I plan on developing the site to be more comprehensive, offering more information on the local businesses. More pictures and videos too.

5. This is a question I've been asking all my interviewees and so I am going to ask you too Mike - In your opinion, what makes Jamaica special?

What makes Jamaica special? When I first came to Jamaica in 2005, I was very impressed by the island's beauty. I also fell in love with the laid back attitude. The more people I met, the more I wanted to come back.

I can honestly say that Negril is a very special place, a paradise offering peace and relaxation.

You can find many fun things to do but you can simply relax if you wish. When I'm in Jamaica I feel really alive, moreover, I learn to appreciate the simple things in life.

6. Thank you so much for your time Mike, we at My-Island-Jamaica.com continue to wish for you and yours the very best. Just one final question, What is your greatest wish for Jamaica?

My greatest wish for Jamaica is Education and Technology. I wish that every child gets the opportunity for education, as it is the key to a bright future.

Technology will bring great excitement and open new windows of opportunity.

Thanks to Mike for his timely and inspiring post. Let's wish him the very best in his endeavors.
