Jamaica Leading On Covid19 Management

by Tony

Approximately 3 weeks ago Jamaica and Ireland had 2 Covid 19 cases and both countries closed schools on the same day!

Ireland's population is about 5 million and Jamaica's about 3 million.

But according to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, when Ireland had 71 deaths and 3,235 cases, Jamaica had 2 death and 38 cases.

The world is recognizing that Jamaica is leading the way in dealing with this pandemic.

Let us support the government as it continues to implement measures to protect Jamaicans from the spread of this disease.

Let us stay at home except for essential trips to the supermarket, pharmacy, etc, observe social distancing guidelines and sanitize.

Let us also remember the poor and otherwise vulnerable persons around us and be of assistance in whatever ways we can. One love and TAN A YUH YAAD!

Hey Tony,
Thanks for sharing.

I know that we are doing relatively well compared to the rest of the world, but didn't know about that comparison with Ireland.

And you are absolutely right! I just confirmed the current cases.

As of today, April 3, 2020, according to the government's website there, https://www.gov.ie, there are 4273 cases in Ireland and 120 death, OMG.

But as you said though, while we can pause to recognize our efforts, it is certainly not the time to blow our horns; the effort and focus is just starting, practice social distancing, proper sanitation (washing hands, keeping away from face, etc) but as you said bluntly, if there is no critical need to be out of home... TAN A YUH YAAD (Stay At Home)

Thanks again for sharing!
