If you have decided that your next place to visit will be Long Bay Beach Portland Jamaica, you have made a great choice as the location is picture-perfect.

Long Bay, is a one-mile stretch of gorgeous Caribbean beach. As its name suggests it is just that, a long bay, and is situated approximately a half-hour east of Port Antonio. One of the longest beaches in Jamaica, it boasts the distinction of being the longest beach in the parish of Portland.

With the rare local holiday or weekend celebration as an exception, you'll discover Long Bay to be a serene haven where you may organize your thoughts, unwind, or even have your own party. Along the shore, there are numerous little eateries, bars, guest rooms, and convenience stores.

Long Bay is a wonderful location to enjoy home-style food and local history. One of the Parish of Portland's most breathtaking beachfront, Long Bay is situated over a continuous stretch of undeveloped shoreline.

Additionally, it makes for the perfect setting for a relaxing and rejuvenating afternoon. Long Bay is a must-see refuge while visiting Jamaica because it is both a surfer's dream and one of the few known surfing spots in Jamaica. However, swimmers should exercise caution because the tide can occasionally be fairly powerful.

The Annual Long Bay Gala is held at Long Bay Beach every year on August 6, which is Independence Day.

Where to stay near Long Bay Beach

Familia Guest House and Natural Farm- Just 200 meters from the shore, near Long Bay, is the La Familia Guest House and Natural Farm, which not only has comfortable accommodations but also has a restaurant. It provides free Wi-Fi throughout and on-site surfing and equipment rental.

There are wardrobes and private bathrooms with showers and toilets in each of the rooms, which are all decorated in a tropical manner. An affordable dorm room is additionally available.

The on-site restaurant serves Italian fare, although there are additional options within a short 10-minute drive. The driving time from Kingston to Norman Manley International Airport is two hours.

Where to eat near Long Bay Beach

Secrets - Chill Out Beach Bar & Grill- Customers and guests can enjoy a puzzling but warm dining experience at this restaurant while unwinding with a done-to-order seafood dish cooked by the greatest chefs in East Portland while overlooking the beach. Among the secret gastronomic delights are fresh seafood, lobster (in season), shrimp, and dishes made with local seasonings. Among the side dishes are rice and peas, plantains, pasta, and breadfruit.

What to do in Long Bay Beach

• Surfing- Long Bay beach is known for its strong currents and large waves making it a surfing hotspot. Surfing is not a popular activity in Jamaica but if you want to spot some surfers or join in the fun this is the place to be.
  
  
• Go fishing- at the long bay beach, you will find fishing boats moored to the shore, if you are looking to have a fishing experience, you will be bound to find a fisherman that will happily oblige.
  
  
• Relax- that is what the beach is for isn’t it? Spread out your towel and get cosy with a book or listen to some music. Or simply just it back and relax, take in the tranquillity of the scenery and bask in the sunshine.
  
  
• Go for a swim- dive right in and go for a swim but as mentioned above, be cautious as the currents tend to be strong.
  
  
• Try some food- you will numerous jerk stands and small restaurants serving traditional jerk chicken and other local dishes along the beach shore. Don’t hesitate to give it a try.
  
  
• Go shopping- on the beach you will find artists and other higglers selling art pieces, beaded bracelets, trinkets and souvenirs. These will make a great gift or simply as a memento for your trip there.
