Jamaica's Nyammins & Jammins Food Festival

Jamaica's Nyammins & Jammins Food Festival

The annual Jamaica 4-H Nyammins & Jammins Food Festival will take place on Saturday, December 15, 20112.

It was pushed back from its traditional October (Heroes Day) date because of rain and muddy conditions over the last few years.

The event will still be staged at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in Montego Bay, the same venue use for the annual Reggae Sumfest.

As customary, there will be a kids village full of entertainment for the kids. Musical entertainment will also be done throughout the day and into the evening with performances from popular gospel artistes, Digicel Rising Star winners and even veterns in the reggae music industry.

Gospel artistes include Ewin Myers, Jabez and Noretta Lewis. The new singing sensation Kami is also expected to be performing.

Veteran Ken Boothe, former Digicel Rising Star winner, Romaine Virgo are expected to wow the audience. There will aso be performances by Tifa and the Fab 5 band, that is now a regular fixture in this much sought after annual event.

According to media reports, this year will also see several spectator activities which includes a grease pig, chain saw and strong man competitions.

There will also be culinary competitions, mystery basket for local celebrities and "one pot" cook-off and "blue drawers" competitions/ demonstrations.

The 4-H booth will also have a wide array of the work of clubbites on display.

This year marks it's 12th anniversary. The event is endorsed by the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association Montego Bay Chapter and the Jamaica 50 Secretariat.

Busta, the Title sponsor, is now in it's third year sponsoring the event. They also have support from the Jamaica Tourist Board, Power 106, The Urban Development Corporation, Sunset Beach Resort & Spa and Rainforest Seafoods.
