"Are there names and contact details of trustworthy people or companies who clear grass and shrubs from land in Jamaica? Do the prices vary depending on the Parish? What is the average cost?"
Hi Claire, good morning! Clearing grass and shrubs in Jamaica is something local teams do all the time, and yes—pricing, availability, and services can vary from parish to parish.
And yes, there are many entities, companies and individuals that does this but they are no necessarily documented or registered. One of the most trusted companies island-wide though is YardCutting.com, founded by Mr. Spencer out of Montego Bay. They offer land clearing and shrub removal services across all parishes. You can contact them at 876‐460‐2552 or bruce@yardcutting.com for a quote and site visit
Other smaller teams like “Dre Clean Cut Landscaping” operate locally in Kingston and St. Andrew. They can be reached at (876) 437‑8285
As for price, it depends on factors like how overgrown the land is, terrain, and parish. Based on local estimates, you’re likely looking at anywhere from J$3,000 to J$10,000 per lot (roughly 50×100 ft) for grass and light shrubs if the land is fairly flat. If it’s heavy bush or hillside, prices could double or triple. In parishes like Trelawny and St. Elizabeth, rates tend to be a bit lower than in Kingston or tourist areas.
At a rough guess: J$5,000–J$8,000 for a typical lot in rural parishes, and J$8,000–J$15,000 in urban or hillside locations, per job. Always good to get a site visit and a written quote before starting.
