Sales Manager Needed (Westmoreland)

TITLE: Sales Manager
REPORTS TO: Managing Director

LOCATION: 41 Great George Street, with minimum 3 days per week travel around Westmoreland and adjoining parishes/

NOMINAL WORKING HOURS: Monday to Saturday, 8.00am – 6.00pm (flexibility required)
with 2 Saturdays off each month

Meat Plus Limited is a grocery distribution, wholesale and retail company with supermarket and
wholesale operations in Westmoreland and some adjoining areas in Hanover, St. James and St. Elizabeth. Meat Plus Limited has, in particular, a robust network of customers that are serviced by a cadre of Sales Representatives who sell them grocery products at wholesale prices. Meat Plus seeks a Sales Manager in the Sales Department to ensure that these Sales Representatives maintain the highest
standards of sales, customer service, account management, invoicing and payment collection.


The Sales Manager will be expected to do the following:
Account Management
• At established intervals, submit sales budget to senior management for consideration and
• Optimize sales performance by balancing the number of active accounts managed by each
Sales Representative
• Create and manage rewards and sanctions for Sales Representative’s management of the
• Ensure that credit notes are applied to customer accounts in a timely fashion
• Ensure that Sales Representatives’ follow-up on payment of outstanding balances
• Work with Accounts Receivable Administrator to reduce customer balances while optimizing

Sales Team Supervision

 Establish periodic sales & collections targets, and monitor performance of each route
 Heighten sales team performance by counseling, rewarding and disciplining employees, as may
be required
 Ensure that all Sales Representatives are subject to a system of ongoing training and
Customer Service/Engagement
 Coordinate with marketing teams, where relevant, to optimize sales
 Monitor sales volume by reference to authorized sales budget
 Capitalize on unplanned sales opportunities that may arise from time to time
 Identify other opportunities to increase MPL's sales to customers.
 Engage in regular periodic visits to customers to establish and reinforce MPL's commitment to
rendering the best possible service.

Key Skills:

Some key skills required for the position of Sales Manager include:
Attention to detail: Must be competent in reviewing sales records carefully to identify trends

in sales history and identify opportunities.

Organizational Skills:

Must be highly organized and be able to manage multiple Sales
Representatives and customer matters simultaneously.
Listening: Must be good at listening to experiences of customers and Sales

Representatives and understanding what they need.

Critical Thinking: Must be able to easily perceive root problems and identify appropriate solutions.

 Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or relevant field
 Minimum 5 years of sales experience, with 3 years of supervisory/management experience.
 Outstanding interpersonal skills
 Must demonstrate skills required to build team spirit and successfully motivate.
 Willingness to travel to company customers
 Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
 Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
