World's Oldest Human Being Is... Jamaican

Did you hear this? Yes, the world's oldest human is in fact a Jamaican! This according to the United States-based Gerontology Research Group.

She is Violet Brown (Aunt V) of the quaint community of Duanvale in the parish of Trelawny (Same parish of the world's fastest human being, Usain Bolt).

She was born on March 10 1900, and is now verified 117 years!

This, is reported, became a reality when the prior oldest person, Emma Morano of Italy, died on April 15, 2017.

Ms Brown is also the first verified supercentenarian from Jamaica and the oldest verified Jamaican person ever.

The local media (as well so the international media, including CNN, TIME, USAToday, The Hufftington Post & The UK Telegraph) did extensive reporting on it!

Unfortunately her 97 year old son died even while the world was celebrating her life.

Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, who visited her home and made a presentation to her on April 27, called her 'a national treasure and a global inspiration' according to the JIS

I feel extremely proud, yet humbled, to be a Jamaican today because of Ms Brown. I am particularly proud of (and like) her because of these:

  1. She is god fearing, and publicly thanked God for his blessings on her. In fact, she attributes her faith to her long life.

  2. She works hard &

  3. She believes in simply 'living right'
    According to The Gleaner report:

    ...Her long and happy life was due to her living right rather than any special diet.

    "Honour your mother and father so your days may be long," said Brown, as she credited her respect for family, life and people in general, as well as a lot of hard work when she was younger for helping her to lead a fruitful life.

    "Really and truly, when people ask what me eat and drink to live so long, I say to them that I eat everything, except pork and chicken, and I don't drink rum and dem tings," Brown said during that interview.



Pretty impressive huh?

You understand now why I love this little rock so much right? I believe from my heart that, despite our political or economic issues, Jamaica is truly a special place on mother earth.

Blessings to Ms Brown on her longevity. Jah, has blessed her greatly. I would love to hear some of her stories of life, and wisdom. There are many lessons learned from listening to our elders.

Her life is in Gods hand . She acknowledged the fact that she is God-fearing , a Christian who give God the glory for her long life .

She also honor her parents that her days may be long upon the land and God prosper her,blessed her long life She is the Modern day Methuselah!

She will live even longer . I imagine her life stories will fill many books .She will influence the people especially the young to trust God and accept His Salvation before it is too late . Jesus is coming soon and Mrs Brown may be alive to be Raptured when Jesus returns .. alleluia . God bless her .
