I graduated at age 16. I attended Alpha from pre-school through 6th form and the "A" finals.
My big sis, Judith Ann, was the brilliant one. We had a wicked headmistress Sister Philomena, a sweet but naïve plump woman.
She made me kneel and get caned for wearing makeup! Shocking eh!
When I graduated and was in a float parade in downtown she grabbed me off the float shouting "Dearie dearie, no Alpha girl should be wearing makeup and her blouse off the shoulder!"
I said, "but sister I graduated". I was sooo embarrassed. That was the last time I saw her.
Editor's Note
Lol! This is funny. I think some of us do have some similar stories of that peculiar teacher or principal.
I am also taking the opportunity to invite Jamaicans, local and abroad, to share memories of their old school; I expect some interesting stories :-)
Thanks again for sharing Paula!
