Jamaica is a tropical paradise. However, you will often find that major resorts and hotels are modelled in such a way that doesn’t highlight, the true essence of Jamaica. But fortunately, there are a few places that do, and Bay View Eco Resort and Spa is one of them.

As the name suggests, Bay View Eco Resort is one of the very few eco-friendly resorts in Jamaica. It is a small resort, but the size only adds to its charm.

Bay View Eco Resort resembles what many of us only ever see on our television screens, a tropical getaway, nestled in between tall trees and bushes, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of city life. No matter where you are from, Bay View Eco Resort will be an escape from your day to day life.

Accommodations at the Bay View Eco Resort

The Bay View Resort and Spa is on the smaller side compared to other resorts, so you won’t have many options when it comes to accommodations. There are 30 rooms overall in five different houses. They are:

• Main House
• Bamboo House
• Ackee House 
• Mango House
• Palm House

These houses have single, double and triple occupancy rooms and a few suites as well. These rooms are not the typical luxury suites you would find at most resorts, they were designed with simplicity and comfort in mind. Some of the basic amenities found in these rooms are:

• Wi-Fi
• Cable TV
• Room service
• Private balcony
• Air conditioning

Dining at The Bay View Eco Resort and Spa

This is not an all-inclusive resort so meals are not included, however, they do offer complimentary Jamaican style breakfast each morning. Another great thing about this resort is that majority of the food prepared here uses ingredients that are grown on the property.

So each morning, you can expect a delicious farm-fresh breakfast such as the Jamaican national dish of ackee and saltfish served with boiled bananas and fried dumplings. 

The Spa

A vacation in a place like this would not be complete without treating yourself to a spa date. The spa at Bay View Eco-Resort and Spa is a tranquil place. You can choose any of their services or treatments, or even have a consultation and have something specifically done for you. You are bound to leave feeling revitalized. Here are some of their treatment options:

• Bamboo breeze facial & Swedish Massage
• Butterfly Facial
• Classic pedicure fused with Paraffin wax
• Chocolate body scrub

What To Do At Bay View Eco Resort

The location of Bay View Eco Resort & Spa is one of its best features. They're in northeastern Jamaica, on the island's northern shore, right next to the Caribbean Sea. Bay View Eco Resort & Spa is a resort Portland Jamaica knows has a unique site within view of Turtle Crawl Bay.

It is located in the city of Port Antonio, which is the capital of Portland (Portie) Parish. Beautiful beaches with breathtaking views of the sea may be found in Portland Parish. The Rio Grande River and Reach Falls are also located here, as well as the Blue Mountains' highest summit.

Besides just relaxing and enjoying the chirping of the birds every day, there are other things you can do such as go on any of the many excursions that the resort will arrange for you. Some of the most favourite places to visit are:

• Boston Jerk Grill - traditional Jamaican jerk pork, chicken and seafood,
• Rafting on the Rio Grande - enjoy a bamboo raft excursion while going down the Rio Grande river.
• Navy Island - is a quiet and peaceful place for a picnic, there are also cottage nearby that will assist with any water sporting activities you may want to do.

Of course, there are many other attractions, beaches and historical sites to explore to explore such as Long Bay Beach, Folly Point Lighthouse, Reach Falls, and Blue Lagoon. 

Not only is this resort eco friendly because of its closeness to nature, but they also practise eco-friendly habits. All rooms have been upgraded with inverter air conditioners, and their water is pumped and cleaned from natural springs, which are powered in part by solar energy. The majority of the fruits and vegetables served at The Country Style Restaurant come from their own farm.

The Bay View Eco Resort is definitely a one of a kind gem that will give each guest a memorable and unique vacationing experience.
