Jamaican Gospel Song - Do You Know This One?

by Brianna

Hi, I have been searching for a gospel song where a Jamaican woman says

, “Jesus came into my life early one Sunday morning. He said woman what you doing, take up your bed and walk. ”

I’ve been searching for this song for years & I would loveeeee if you could find out the song for me.

Thank you.

Answer by Wellesley Gayle,

Hi Brianna,

Thanks for your question. I've been brainstorming this and the one that comes to mind is Maxine Duncan's "I am committed".

It doesn't mention the take up your bed an walk but it spoke about the Sunday Morning.

Are you sure both phrases are in the same song my friend?

Anyway, here is the lyrics of Maxine's, I am committed song. Just in case.

I'll also post it on the site (and on facebook) for any of my readers to comment via the (comment link below) if they can relate to it.

Early this morning, I woke from my sleep
I heard His voice spoke softly to me
He says my child you have had some lonely nights

That's why I am here to comfort you if you only believe

[That's when I have committed my life to Him
Cause I know that He cares for me
Yes I am committed my life to Him
I know he cares, He'll always be there
That's why I am committed

It was in the dark, He revealed Himself to me
He said my child I am your destiny
Lonely nights I spent in agony
As I prayed secretly, I started to cry I am committed

[Yes I am committed my life to Him
I know that he cares for me
Yes I am committed my life to Him
I know he cares, He will always be there
That's why I am committed

When Trials come and they seem so hard to bear
Yes Jesus knows what you are going through
Your circumstances, He will fix it for you
He'll take your hand, he'll lead you on
You will always be strong

Yes I am committed my life to Him
Cause I know that He; cares for me
Yes I am committed my life to Him
I know he cares, He will always be there
That's why I am committed

I know he cares He will always be there
That's why I am committed
