Jamaican Homeless Man
Contest Entry #011 - Jamaican Homeless - Rich In Talent
Seldom do we pay attention to the helpless, hungry, raggedly clothed individuals who live on our local streets. We call them mad and mock them but little do we know what unbelievable and amazing talents they possess.
This homeless man quickly gained my attention when I saw him in his little studio on the streets of New Kingston. Hard at work with his crayons, he laid comfortably on the ground completing his work of art.
I went a bit closer to see what exactly his piece was just to find out that there was an admission for his ‘exhibition’. This was his only means of earning money for food. This brought tears to my eyes and without hesitation I offered him the little change I had.
The composition of his abstract piece was produced by lines of all shapes and sizes but in those lines, little gestures and perfectly proportioned faces could be spotted. His artistic talent was remarkable.
