Please Join Me In Saluting Our Health And Social Workers #Covid19

by Wellesley Gayle

The last few weeks have be not only rough, but punishing for some, particularly our health care and social workers on the front-line, fighting the deadly COVID-19 virus.

And not only in Jamaica and the US, but across the Caribbean and the rest of the world.

And what is sad is that they typically get very little recognition.

While we (are asked to) stay at home, they are on battlefield, testing, documenting and treating.

This is certainly not something to take for granted.

And I put it to you, its certainly not for the money, it is for the love of the job, the care of people, and the saving of lives.

I've heard some stories, including a taxi man refusing to transport a nurse.

It is an extremely tough time for some of them; in some cases they have to sacrifice their own family, children and grandchildren for the nation's benefit.

And yes, that include student nurses and doctors too who are pulled in.

And so, while we are taking steps to protect and care ourselves, please join me in recognizing their efforts by sharing a comment here.

And it doesn't matter whether or not you know of one, have a family member or friend in the health and social services, they all deserve the recognition!

If you have a name, please state it, and the institution. Please don't wait, do it now here, that could mean the world to him or her.

I'll post as soon as you submit it.

Thanks much!

Commendations NEW

Our healthcare workers have certainly risen to the occasion in this time of crisis. I salute everyone of them, regardless of the capacity in which they are serving. Thank God for their dedication, even at the expense of their own families, and I pray that as a nation we will continue to show them respect to these brave individuals who are going above and beyond the call of duty! Thank you, and God bless you.

My Bestie Cheverniel Hopwood Cornwall Regional Hospital
by: Nichole

My bestfriend of over 20 years is a senior nurse at the Cornwall Regional Hospital. She has the kindest heart that I know and is such a selfless person. She has been working around the clock and does all she can to make her patients comfortable. Today I want to celebrate my Bestie Cheverniel Hopwood and all the other amazing staff at the Cornwall Regional Hospital. You are all truly heroes.

Thank you!
by: Angella

Words cannot express we heartfelt gratitude to all the dedicated soldiers in all capacities- nurses, doctors, police officers, CNAs...who are putting the public's lives ahead of theirs and their families.

I have been praying for God to build fences of protection around each of you. Thank you for all your hard work and we pray that your dedication will not just be recognized here, but when Jesus comes, may each of you receive a crown of glory. If by any chance your life is not surrendered to Him yet, we implore you to do so now so that you will receive your crown.

On behalf of my family and friends,
Thank you!

Our sister in Christ, Lebethia Lynch - St. Ann Bay hosital
by: Wayne

She is expected to work long and odd hours. No patient, regardless of the illness or sickness is judged.

She and all her co-workers consider each patient their upmost priority. Nurses are on the front line, in the trenches fighting alongside the infected, injured, sick and dying.

My hat goes off to you all and we continue to pray for strength and safety during this troubled times and always.

Covid19 workers
by: Patricia

I also salute the members of the security forces who have to be out on the streets, day and night, to ensure that we stay off the streets.

It would be so easy if everyone would just comply and stop being stubborn.

The sooner we take this thing serious and realize that the measures being taken are for our protection, the better off we'll be.

May God guide and protect them and cover them under His precious blood.

Covid19 workers
by: Patricia

My heart goes out to them, but I also lift my hat to them. What they're doing is not easy and the persons who are refusing to come forward are only making their work harder, because the numbers are getting bigger. I pray that God will strengthen them and keep them safe.
