Ocho Rios is known for being the capital of adventure in Jamaica. There is always something to do, whether it is to climb the Dunn’s River Falls, visit the Dolphins at Dolphin Cove or the Green Grotto Caves which was an escape route for slaves during their time of captivity. But at some point, you will have to take a break from all the sightseeing and get something to eat. When this happens here are the restaurants in Ocho Rios I would recommend.

1. Scotchies

This rustic jerk centre in Drax Hall has been among the top restaurants in Ocho Rios for years as is evident by their consistently high ratings when it comes to their food, customer service and ambience.

You can always rely on Scotchies to have jerked foods, soups and your favourite side, whether that is festivals, rice and peas or fried plantains or breadfruit. You can sit and enjoy your meal and a refreshing drink, preferably a cold red stripe beer in the ambience of an authentic Jamaican restaurant.

Does Scotchies offer takeout?

Yes, in the unfortunate circumstance that you are unable to dine at the restaurant, you can have your favourite meal packed and ready to go.

2. Ocho Rios Jerk Centre

Preparing food that people love for over 30 years is no easy feat, but Ocho Rios Jerk Centre sure makes it seem that way. Located at 14 DaCosta Drive Ocho Rios, this jerk centre has been one of the best spots to get jerked foods and meet up with friends right in the centre of Ocho Rios.

Does Ocho Rios Jerk Centre offer takeout?

Yes, you can order your meals to go at this establishment.

3. Seaside Dutchie

Using one of Jamaica’s most beloved utensils, the Dutch Pot, this restaurant creates Jamaican dishes with a gourmet flare. While you wait for your meal, savour a drink at the Dutchie Bar and enjoy it on a lounge chair by the seaside. The restaurant is also available for special occasions such as birthday dinners and weddings. All you have to do is visit their website or call to make reservations.

You can also enjoy music, performances, art exhibits or karaoke on particular days. Just check their social media pages to see what entertainment is on which night and plan your trip accordingly.

4. Plantation Smokehouse

Plantation Smokehouse is one of the newest restaurants in Ocho Rios and the first smokehouse in the area. They serve both Jamaican favourites and International dishes in their relaxed, casual dining setting. They do deliver to their surrounding areas, however, if you are travelling from outside the area, you can order ahead and reserve your table via their website. Having a function and would like for them to cater, no problem, they also provide catering services as well.

Does Plantation Smokehouse offer take-out?

Yes they do, you can order ahead and do in house or curbside pick up. You can also request delivery to the surrounding areas. This may attract an additional charge depending on your location.

5. Stush In The Bush

'Stush' is a Jamaican word that is akin to classy or elegant. Stush in the Bush is that and more. It transcends a mere meal. Stush in the Bush is a delightful culinary experience. It starts with a farm tour, so you can see, pick and learn about all the truly organic ingredients that will be included in creating your meal.

Most of their meals are vegetarian, however, seafood dishes are done on request. The scenery is as much a part of the experience as the meal itself as you will be able to look over at rolling hills while you have your healthy feast. After your meal, be sure to secure a few of their organic sauces and marinades to enhance your meals and be stush at home.

6. Evita’s Italian Restaurant

This is among the more luxurious fine-dining restaurants in Ocho Rios. Set in a 1980 gingerbread house, Evita’s offers a meal with a view of the Ocho Rios cruise port. The menu consists of Northern Italian dishes as well as Jamaican-Italian fusions.

Each dish is done to order, cooking it to cater specifically to your tastes and dietary preferences. You can have a drink at the bar while you wait, but don’t plan to wait very long.

If a little Italian restaurant is the setting you want for your special celebrations whether that is a birthday, wedding or anniversary, you can have this restaurant reserved for the occasion.

7. Miss T’s Kitchen 

65 Main Street, Ocho Rios is the go-to place for authentic Jamaican meals for lunch and dinner. This restaurant reminds you of home as it specializes in homestyle meals for everyone. Vegetarians and vegans can check the separate vegan menu, to ensure their meals are prepared following their dietary preferences. Miss T’s authentic homestyle cooking can also be hired for catering services if you so wish.

Yes, you can get Miss T’s Kitchen homestyle dishes to go.

8. L’Escargot

L’Escargot brings France to Main Street Ocho Rios one bite at a time. Another of the more refined restaurants in Ocho Rios, L’Escargot provides lunch and dinner to its guests in a fine-dining setting. The perfect restaurant for a relaxing evening with friends or date night.

You can reserve your table beforehand just to be sure your space is secure. They have a special brunch on Sundays that is specifically by reservation only, you can check the website or their social media pages to see what delicious dishes will be available.

Does L’Escargot offer takeout?

Yes, it does but there are some stipulations. Delivery and takeaway are done on orders over USD 80 only.
