Who can sign the marriage license in a christian ceremony in Jamaica?

It is one of those questions that we almost never ask or even think about, but a valid one nonetheless.

Here's the complete question with my answer below.

Who can sign the marriage license in a christian ceremony in Jamaica? Does it have to be a member of the bridal party or can it be a special guest of the choosing of the bride and/or groom?

ANSWER: by Wellesley

Hey DMS,

Thanks for asking!

No, the person or persons who can sign the marriage license does not have to be a member of the bridal party, it can be anyone that the bride and groom choose to be the witnesses.

Yes, typically they are usually members of the bridal party, but there is no rule or law on this.

In total then, you'll have five (5) signatures, you, your partner, the officiant or marriage officer and the two (2) witnesses, one witnessing the bride and the another witnessing the groom.

I hope this clarifies!
