Photo Contest Entry #57 - Hardworking Security Guard
I was over at a neighbor’s house early in December and saw this intriguing sight. I couldn’t resist the temptation to snap a picture and share it.
This is a makeshift chicken coop until the baby chicks grow bigger I was told. The cat seemed to have replaced the rattrap seen above the left handle of the basin.
Either that or he is working alongside it. In true Jamaican fashion, apparently he takes his job seriously. This is his day stint. I was made to understand he has a collar for when night duty begins.
I can just imagine the dialogue (English and patois versions) going on between these two.
Chicken (English): Don’t you have anything better to do than to watch me eat?
Chicken (Patios): Yu nuh ha nutten betta fi do dan fi watch people a nyam?
Cat (English): Why don’t you put your head right up close so I can hear you properly?
Cat (Patios): Mek yu nuh shub yu head right up ya so mek mi hear weh yu a seh good?
On a serious note though, it would be interesting to know what exactly was on the mind of that cat at that particular point in time.
