Jamaica has had its fair share of lottery winners over the years thanks to Supreme Venture Limited. And the winners always seem to find disguises that both keep their identity a secret and amuse the rest of us looking on. Winners from Jamaica have even made international news because of their disguises.

History of Lotto

Supreme Ventures began operations in 1995, with just two games, Cash Pot and Lucky 5 which are both still popular today. After seeing the success of those two games, the Lotto Jackpot was launched in 2009, with a minimum jackpot of 25 million dollars.

How to Play Lotto

Your winning ticket can be purchased at a local retailer or via the supreme ventures app.

  • You must choose 6 numbers between 1 and 38 to enter the lottery.
  • Each entry comes at a minimum cost of $100 Jamaican dollars
  • You must be 18 years or older in Jamaica to play.
  • Lotto draws can be watched live on local television stations CVM and TVJ at 8:25 PM on various radio stations or on the Supreme Ventures app.

Lotto vs Super Lotto

Though both games are run by Supreme Ventures, they are two different games with different rules and more importantly different payouts. Playing the Super Lotto means you’ll not just become a millionaire, you’ll be a super million with most super lotto winners getting a lump sum payout of over 200 million dollars. Super Lotto draws are done on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:30 PM. To win the super lotto, you’ll need only 5 numbers.

The amount of money you win depends on the ticket you bought. If you purchase the JMD $300 ticket then you’ll win the full jackpot. If you purchase the ticket for $200 JMD you’ll receive 60% of the jackpot.

Prizes and Payouts

Players who match all the digits for the respective games will win the lotto or Super lotto game. If there is no winner, for the drawing, it rolls over to the next game. Whenever someone wins the lotto it starts again from the minimum payout.

On the one-in-a-million chance that more than one person wins the lotto, the sum will be divided equally among the winners.

In addition to the jackpot, there are five additional prize tiers. The second to fourth tiers are dependent on the number of tickets for the drawing as well as the number of winners.

Winners have 90 days from the drawing date to claim their winnings.

Speaking of winnings, the amount of money to be collected will dictate where you are allowed to collect your winnings. Sums of 54,999 or less can be collected at any Supreme Ventures retail outlet. For winnings between 55,000 and 300,000, you will have to visit the regional office to collect your prize.

For sums above $300,000, you will have to journey to their headquarters in Kingston at the Prize Payments Centre. Lotto prizes are paid out in cash as long as it is less than $300,000.

Large jackpot winnings are paid within 72 hours after the claim is made.
