Durham

Our family name is Durham- what was the origin of that place? Forebear was said to perhaps be a maroon from Jamaica who went on to St Vincent. About 25 years ago we did speak with an elderly woman on the volcano end of St Vincent who seemed to have known a great grandfather.

Palmer, Norris, McKenzie, Brown,Mckenzies
by: Valerie Palmer

My husbands family come from Durham, Portland . His fathers name was Altomin Palmer , descendant of James Palmer whose father was a George Palmer.

The family were also linked to the names McKenzie, Norris, Anderson, King, Murdock,Wallen and Links also to the Brown family.

Anyone related to these families in Portland, any info welcome. Desperate for any old photos pre-1950's inparticular, and any info that would help me pt flesh on the family tree.

The Palmers owned land, and were believed to have been slaves who escaped and ran off into the hills , with Moorish ancestory, not sure where or which plantation or where the owners of the plantation were from. Don't think it was Rose Hall, despite there being Palmers there .

Can anyone help with info pre-1917
