Ocho Rios vs Negril? I couldn’t possibly choose. But, for those of you who absolutely must choose between the two, here is a brief comparison to help you make a decision.
Ocho Rios is situated in St. Ann, known as the "Garden Parish" by locals. With that, you can anticipate being welcomed by fantastic greenery. Accordingly, you have the best choices for opulent resorts and spas, ensuring your time on the island will be luxurious and relaxing.
A trip to Negril is considered essential. Beaches and relaxation go hand in hand, and you can anticipate both in this location. It is, for many, the ideal location for a calming experience because it has a 7-mile (11-km) stretch of pristine, white sand beach.
Negril may appear quiet and serene, but don't let that deceive you—despite moving at a slow and steady pace, it's a great place for adventurers and outgoing people. You'll never run out of things to do, from fun in the water to energetic music.
Both destinations have beautiful beaches. Negril’s Seven Mile Beach is world-famous and one of Jamaica’s longest stretches of sand. The beach is lined with resorts, restaurants, and bars.
Ocho Rios also has lovely beaches like Turtle Beach and James Bond Beach. However, Negril’s beaches are more developed than those in Ocho Rios. If you’re looking for more of a secluded beach experience, Ocho Rios is the better choice.
However, if you want more of a party atmosphere, then Negril is the way to go! However, not all the beaches in Negril are about partying. Some are great for relaxing and having a chill day. So ultimately, when it comes down to it, Negril has the better choice of beaches.
Ocho Rios is conveniently in the located at an equal distance from either of the two major international airports as well as the Ian Fleming International Airport. Negril is a better option for passengers arriving at Sangster International Airport. But from the airport, both locations require a two-hour drive.
Most resorts have transportation either complimentary or, they will have it arranged at an additional cost to you. There are many options for travel between Montego Bay and Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios or to either places from Kingston. The journey from Kingston to Negril is 4 hours though, so bear that in mind.
Choosing between the two is difficult because they are both excellent destinations for family vacations. But I must say Ocho Rios is a better choice for this one, it is the best location for families looking for adventure.
There is no better destination if you are a family of adventurers. Ocho Rios is filled with outdoor activities with waterfalls to climb and adventure parks to explore. Thanks to the wide variety of options, your family will always have plenty to do.
This isn’t to say a family trip is completely impossible in Negril. There are some family resorts and the beach and adventure park are great for family fun.
Couples can enjoy a variety of romantic activities in both Negril and Ocho Rios. Both locations offer a variety of romantic activities, such as private candlelit dinners on the sand and couples' massages. Enjoy a romantic dinner at The Lodge Restaurant or catch the sunset at Rick's Café.
Both Negril and Ocho Rios offer a variety of excursions. You can keep busy in Negril by zip-lining, visiting blue mineral springs, and even taking rum tours. Along with these fantastic excursions, Ocho Rios offers trips to the well-known Dunn's River Falls and rafting on the Martha Brae River and the Mystic Mountain Adventure Park.
Overall, there are lots of activities to enjoy during your Jamaican vacation in both Negril and Ocho Rios!
Overall, both tourist towns are great for everyone, whether singles, couples, groups or families. When it comes down to it, your choice between the two may majorly be dependent on the type of vacation you are looking for.
Ocho Rios is a great option for those looking for more thrilling adventures with the entire family, and Negril, of course, makes the perfect romantic getaway.
