Scotchies Montego Bay | Jerk Pork On An Open Fire

There are so many things about Jamaica that inspires people to travel here year after year.  It could be anything from the tropical beaches, the luscious greenery, our culture, our heritage and our food.

Jamaican cuisine is known worldwide, from our unique national dish, ackee and saltfish to our spicy flavours and of course our Jerk chicken. If you are a fan of jerk like most people who have ever tried it, then you know, no one does Jerk chicken quite well like Jamaicans and you simply can’t visit the island without having some.

One of the most popular areas in Jamaica for tourists to visit is the city of Montego Bay. From beaches, resorts, clubs and heritage sites, the city provides tourists with everything travellers look forward to. The restaurants are some of the most favoured across the island as well. 

One such popular restaurant that keeps attracting locals and visitors from near and far is Scotchies. It is one of those few restaurants that are left that never required social media and advertisements to be packed every day. The deliciousness of their meals had customers returning over and over again and spreading the goodness with their families and friends.

Even though Scotchies is more of a casual restaurant with its thatch roofing, and rustic setting, with indoor and outdoor seating, or even a seat at the bar if you prefer, it is still one of the top restaurants in Montego Bay for locals to visit when celebrating major milestones like birthdays, anniversary, graduation and so much more. 

The restaurant has convenient parking space available for its customers, has wheelchair accessibility for those who are physically disabled, and clean bathroom facilities for both sexes.

Here you can dive in and sample many local flavours from piping hot pumpkin soup, steamed fish with all the favourite toppings, bammy, festival, sweet potato pudding and the list goes on. But what captures the taste buds of most is their succulent, spicy jerk chicken, prepared traditionally over pimento tree branches. Their meals have received raving reviews online. 

Be prepared to inhale all the mouthwatering flavours and smoke coming from the restaurant, order your jerk chicken in ¼, ½ or whole portions and your pork ¼ lb, ½ lb or 1 lb portions, kick it up a notch with their flaming hot sauces and grab a seat on one of the beer barrels that have been converted into padded stools. It's an experience you must have of your own.

While the restaurant doesn't currently have a website, you can find them on Instagram @scotchiesjamaica, or with a simple google research. The reviews on various websites harping about how great the facilities are, their top tier customer service and referring to them as having some of the best-tasting jerk chicken.

Scotchies doesn't require you to dine in at all times, so you can choose to grab your meal to go with their take out options or call and order your meal before you get there. They operate 7 days per week between the hours of 11 am and 7 pm, and occasionally later. You can contact them at (876) 953-8041.
