JAMAICAN VISITOR STORY: 3rd Visit to Jamaica & it was Fantastic Again
Late Feb brought us another visit (3rd time in 5yrs) to this wonderful island. It was our second time to Ocho Rios now & by far for us the greatest place in the world to hang out & watch the people of the world go by.
It was our first time getting away from the "All Inclusive Resort" lifestyle & was the best thing we've ever done.
(Don't get me wrong the resorts we've stayed at are fabulous, but honestly there is no Jamaican culture, food or history to found in any of them!)
We rented a room on Ocho Rios Bay Beach & had the greatest time there!
Nothing better than the experience of been in the town & steps away from the ocean at the same time. The local people are spectacular & so much fun.
Yes they hassle to make a dollar but are not rude, demanding nor threatening in any way. They are just not as well off as us Westerners who come to visit!
When you are there visit the locals markets / tents, support them & most of all have fun with them. Ask questions about their life on the island. Many of them are more than happy to talk to everyone.
We experienced your country's general election (you sure do like your horns!! haha) which was another titbit of knowledge we can add to our visit to the island. Walk around & mingle with the locals, you will love the experience.
Experience the culture of these truly beautiful people & better understand what lies within this beautiful country.
Next year brings a 3 week visit ! This time which we cannot wait for... don't forget your history!
