Re: What Makes Jamaica Special
I love Jamaica, not just for the fact that I am married to a Jamaican but the people and the country are one of a kind.
We don't stay at resorts, we stay at hotels that are amongst the people. The people are friendly, warm and welcoming. They work hard and although they may not have alot themselves they don't let that affect their demeanor.
I love travelling around the country to see what Jamaica is really like, not what the tourist board wants you to see. We love going to the roadside food vendors with the fresh fruit and the delicious, authentic Jamaican dishes. I love going to the Craft Markets and finding one of a kind items made with the love and skill.
There is also a lot that needs to change for the Jamaican people. The government needs to stop being so greedy and giving back to the people who deserve it. The people who are welcoming the tourists need to be given the recognition and proper compensation because they are the reason that people keep coming back.
I love it so much that we are going to buy a house there so when we retire we can live in a beautiful, warm country where the people take pride in their culture!!
I could go on and on but if you have never been there, you need to go and I can guarantee that one you go you will be planning your next trip back before you leave the first time!!
