For its big return, Worthy Park started out with unarguably, the most popular type of rum in Jamaica, white overproof rum. Rum-Bar joined the ranks of Jamaican spirits in 2007, years after its production had ceased at the Worthy Park Estate.

Who owns Rum Bar Jamaica?

Rum Bar Jamaica is distilled by Worthy Park Estate, owned by the Clarke family since 1918.

Named Rum-Bar in honour of the rum bars all across the island where Jamaicans convene for a drink after work or for a round of dominoes. There is no better name for a rum that celebrates Jamaican culture. In fact, it is very common to see Rum-Bar watering holes while travelling around Jamaica.

What is Pot-Stilled Rum?

Pot-Still distillation also known as batch distillation uses a copper pot which results in a more flavoured distillate. This makes it the favoured way to produce rum. Rum-Bar Jamaican Rum uses a three-vessel design made in Scotland by famed pot-still manufacturers, Forsyths.

The pot still is made from 100% copper, operates on a batch system with a 5-6 hour cycle and is heated by steam, an external heating source rather than coils inside the still.

Rum Bar has 6 rum products; Silver, Gold, White Overproof, Rum Cream and Vodkas; Classic and Green Apple. These rum products have won multiple awards all over the world.

Rum-Bar Gold Awards

  • Gold Medal -Rum & Cachaça Masters 2018
  • Gold Medal - German Rum Fest

Rum Bar Gold is tropically aged for 4 years in oak barrels. This gives it a rich fruity taste with undertones of vanilla. This gold 40% rum can be had neat or in a rum cocktail.

Rum-Bar White Overproof Awards

  • Master Medal - Rum & Cachaça Masters 2018
  • Gold Medal - German Rum Fest
  • Gold Medal - Warsaw Spirits Competition
  • Gold Medal - Int'l Spirits Competition 2018

This blend of unaged rums has an alcohol degree of 63%. While some have this rum neat, an easier introduction would be in a cocktail.

Rum-Bar Silver Awards

  • Silver Medal - Rum & Cachaça Masters 2018

While being a blend of unaged rums itself, the Rum-Bar is a lighter alternative to the Overproof rum as it is only 40% alcohol compared to 63%.

Rum Cream

Rum Cream is quite popular in Jamaica, if not for drinking then a delicious addition to punches and coffee for some. The rich creamy base is added to Rum-Bar’s White rum. It has 15% ABV.

Vodkas

Rum-Bar also produces two vodkas, the Classic and Green Apple. This is Worthy Park's answer to the rising demand for Vodka in Jamaica. The classic is 40% while the Green Apple is 35%.

I’m sure you are now wondering what cocktails can be made from this collection of spirits. You can try these cocktail recipes and see which is your favourite. These and others are on Rum-Bar’s website.
