Fish, crab, lobster or shrimp? What is your favourite seafood? Maybe it is the Jamaican in me, but nothing beats a good escovitch fish. ( I guess I just gave away what my favoured seafood is). I also love the others, but hardly ever prepare them at home.

Whenever I am craving delicious seafood, I love going to restaurants here in Montego Bay. I’m going to share my favourites with you as well as a few others that come highly recommended.

So, if you are a seafood lover, local or visitor, here are the top seafood restaurants in Montego Bay.

Houseboat Grill

Constructed in the 1970s, the Houseboat Grill was first used as a bar and nightclub before being transformed into this distinctive and sophisticated seafood restaurant in 2001. Savour a variety of lobster and seafood meals while listening to live music and enjoying the atmosphere.

Although the restaurant's speciality is seafood, they also have vegetarian and chicken options available. You should think about eating here if you are ever in Montego Bay.

Pier 1

Operating since 1986, Pier 1, located on the waterfront, is the most vibrant outdoor seafood restaurant, bar, and entertainment center here in Montego Bay.

With a huge selection of seafood delicacies ranging from lobster to a local favourite, Land crab, prepared with a Jamaican twist, Pier 1 Jamaica is unmatched when it comes to seafood in Mobay.

I know, I know. We are listing the best seafood spots in Montego Bay. But, if this doesn’t appeal to someone in the group, salads, tofu, jerk chicken, and jerk sausage pasta are also on the menu. Even the pickiest of eaters will be satisfied, whether they are dining in for lunch or evening. While you can walk in, it can get a bit crowded. A reservation never hurts.

Marguerites

With over 40 years of experience, this sophisticated fine-dining seafood restaurant is situated on the busy trendy strip of Montego Bay. While they do serve both vegetarian and meat options, this is primarily a seafood restaurant and their extensive menu proves this.

They are on the more expensive side, but based on reviews the experience is worth the price. Marguerites is renowned for having an excellent wine selection that goes well with its cuisine. The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence was given to them in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. During these same years, they were also granted Trip Advisor's Traveler's Choice Award.

Mystic Thai

While Mystic Thai is not often a go-to seafood restaurant, it definitely should be. Their menu leaps away from the go-to methods of preparing seafood, so be prepared to experience something different.

For the lovers of sushi, I know the entire menu dedicated to sushi will excite you. So, this is not a restaurant to skip over for a sushi or seafood lover. And the ambience is also quite exquisite, but don’t take my word for it. Take a visit and let us know what you think.

Marina Palms

I haven’t been to this one…yet. From the recommendations I have received so far, I will definitely be visiting soon. They have been growing in popularity and just by looking at their menu and social media pages I can tell why.

Their menu is simple but has all the classic seafood faves like fried calamari, grilled lobster and salmon, shrimp pasta and so much more. They also have other chicken and meat options for those not interested in seafood. What makes them even more unique is their location.

They are located at the Montego Bay Yacht Club and have some of the most stunning night-time sea views, and the outdoor seating makes it so much better. I am so excited to go!

Rainforest Seafood

This is more of an honourable mention since they are not known primarily for their dining options. Rainforest is Jamaica’s premium seafood provider.

However, their location here in Mobay also has a small deli and dining area where they primarily serve lunch. Just recently, I had their shrimp chowder, saltfish fritter and roasted salmon for lunch (yes, I am greedy), and I think they are officially my new favourite lunchtime spot.

It does get packed during the typical lunch, from around 12 to 2 though, but don’t be alarmed the staff is very adept at handling the lunchtime rush.

So there you have it, my top seafood restaurants in Montego Bay. But just to be fair, this is not an extensive list and most restaurants in Montego Bay will have at least a few seafood options on their menu; these are just my favourite of them all.
