Negril, Jamaica, is one of the island’s top tourist destination towns. It’s not just for visitors either, many locals choose this town for work and play.
What’s the reason for its popularity? We can look at a few.
Some of the world's most stunning beaches can be found in Negril. Resorts, eateries, and bars line the seven-mile stretch of the famously beautiful beach. There are several distinct areas of the beach, each with its own name. On the north side of Negril's 7-mile beach is Bloody Bay Beach which is open to the public.
According to legend, the bloody pirate battle that took place here hundreds of years ago is what gave this beach its name.
Booby Cay is a tiny island located not too far from Negril. It was given the name "booby" after a species of seabird that visits the island every year to breed and lay eggs.
Directly on the seven-mile beach in Negril, is Margaritaville's restaurant and bar. The variety of entertainment and activities available here will appeal to all members of your family, regardless of age.
In Negril, Chances Bar & Grill is renowned for serving the best pizza with jerk chicken and lobster. Here, Sunday evenings are delightful. A fantastic live jazz band performs there.
A day at the beach at Bourbon Beach is fantastic. The restaurant's food is excellent, and the chairs are comfortable. However, they are well known for the live music acts that perform there every night.
The Negril Cliffs, which rise nearly 40 feet above the turquoise sea below, provide a striking backdrop for any traveller focusing on the western end of this Jamaican destination.
It's a lovely place to visit and take in the view because the bare stone stands in striking contrast to the surrounding vegetation and water.
The Negril cliffs are a wonderful place to spend an evening and make for the ideal location to watch the sunset over the horizon. Both locals and tourists travel to the cliffs to jump from their lofty heights into the chilly waters below.
Negril, Jamaica, is sometimes called the capital of casual. The resort town is quite chill and laid back. There is never much hustle; everyone seems to move at a much slower, relaxed pace. This may be because it is one of the island's primary vacation towns.
It is not much party central if you compare it to Montego Bay or Kingston, the island’s cities, outside of the Jungle nightclub.
If you are looking forward to a night of relaxed enjoyment, you will easily find many beach bars with live bands playing jazz and reggae music. It's the type of town that is great for families and couples. You will find a mixture of resorts, some adult-only options, and family-friendly ones.
Food is a primary part of any vacation and you will find it in abundance in Negril. Are you a lover of seafood? If so, Negril is the place to be. On the stretch of the seven-mile beach, you will find many restaurants serving up the fresh catch, even allowing you to choose your fish or lobster before preparing it on the spot however you choose. Some of the best grilled or jerk lobster is said to be served in Negril but, you can also enjoy a variety of other local dishes and ital options as well.
You can find a few great views of the sunrise in Negril if you are willing to wake up early enough. But the sunsets? That’s a whole different level of pure awe. Whether you choose to grab a beer and watch from the sandy beach shorelines or, head over to the cliffs and watch the sunset from a different vantage point is up to you but, either way, you will be guaranteed to catch the most breathtaking views.
Negril is a sure destination to uplift your spirits and relax your mind and body.
