Any tips for enjoying Mandeville?

by Paul

Hello,

My family will be in Mandeville for two weeks in January. I'm interested in learning about fun day trips, good food, interesting places or things to make the stay enjoyable.

We usually stay at Treasure Beach and have always enjoyed our time, but my wife has business in Mandeville and we'll pretty much be centered there.

If anyone is familiar with the area I'd love to hear from you.

thanks,
Paul

Hi Sir Paul,

Thanks for asking bro!

I'll open the question up to my readers to comment below, but I'll quickly mention a few notable places for good food and attractions in or around the general Mandeville area.

First of all, did you know that Mandeville has some of the oldest buildings in Jamaica? Yup!

In relation to the food or places to eat, be sure to check out one of my favourite eatery on the island (which is located in the vicinity, Little Ochi. I wrote a review of it here. I've also heard about the The Star Grill Restaurant, so be sure to check it out.

In terms of landmark and attractions, don't expect to get as much as say Ocho Rios/ St. Ann area, but the few are quite impressive. For example:

  • The historic The Manchester Country Club
  • The Mandeville Courthouse
  • Mrs. Stephenson’s Garden
  • and The Jamaican Standard Products Company

You can read about these and more in my article on Mandeville Jamaica.

Regards,
Wellesley Gayle
