We're spending our first visit ever in Jamacia. What's the Christmas like in Negril or anywhere on the Island?
ANSWER: BY Wellesley Gayle
Hello there (I didn`t get your name) but thanks for your question, and for stopping by my-island-jamaica.com.
I provided a good summary of what to expect during Christmas in Jamaica on this page.
But Negril is special, it is truly the tourist haven and what is sometimes called, the other Jamaica.
And so, Negril does bring its unique flavour to the Jamaican Christmas experience.
So what can you expect in Negril?
Certainly a lot more life and excitement!
We say that Negril is the capital of casual in Jamaica but it gets frenzied at Christmas; everywhere in Negril will be buzzing and there will be lots of tourists - and locals alike.
In fact, just as foreign tourist descend on Negril at this time, so too are locals from across the island.
There will also be numerous activities, especially the parties that Negril is known so well for.
So yes, expect bonfires, christmas lights, beach side parties and lots of food, including the pan jerk chicken (and pork) from the local vendors!
Sounds like that's enough for you? I hope so. LOL.
By the way, I have Jamaican Christmas mini forum where I allow visitors to Jamaica to share their stories.
Please be sure the read some of the stories here; we have gotten some excellent ones that will surely provide you some good tips and learning opportunities.
And to those who are reading this who have been here before, please, do me a favour, take a minute to share your Christmas in Jamaica experience with us, simple or elaborate, it doesn't matter, we are eagerly looking forward to it!
Regards,
Wellesley
