I can imagine that when you think of weddings in Jamaica, your first thought would be a beach and with so many beautiful beach options out there, I can’t say I blame you. But, if you would rather skip the beach, but your dream wedding destination is still Jamaica. Don’t worry there is something memorable for you just the same. There are many attractive options to choose from depending on what your ideas are.
The easiest way to plan a destination wedding in Jamaica is through a resort and sometimes easy is good. Some hotels have wedding departments, complete with a wedding planner, decorator and just about every other person you would need to plan the wedding of your dreams. They will assist you in finding everything from the pastor to the menu at the wedding reception. There will be no detail left out. If you are looking for a hassle-free wedding location a resort would be the best option.
1. Over the Water Chapel - Sandals Resorts
The name Sandals is synonymous with vacation and luxury and their approach to weddings is no different. There is the option to have your wedding at any of the nine resorts on the island. They seem to have thought of everything a couple could have thought about and then some with their wedding chapel or garden options or the classic seaside option all available on the property.
I think the most impressive venue though is the new “over-the-water chapel” located at the Sandals Montego Bay, South Coast and Ocho Rios resorts in Jamaica. You can say “I do” above the water and witness the sea creatures below through the transparent flooring. You have the option of decorating however you want with the fully customizable wedding options.
Then, to sweeten the deal, your honeymoon begins just as your wedding ends without having to search all over the island for multiple locations.
2. Devon House - Kingston
As the former home of Jamaica’s first billionaire, you can expect nothing but luxury and beauty at Devon House. This location is the perfect spot if you would like to be away from the seaside, with lush gardens, the beautiful Devon House mansion as the backdrop to your wedding in Jamaica’s capital city surrounded by your closest family members and friends. Oh, just think of the beautiful wedding pictures you could get!
3. Hope Zoo - Kingston
Hope Zoo has some of the most beautiful lawns and gardens I have ever seen. It is no surprise that they the are the location of choice for many who have tied the knot. They have many garden options with different seating capacities from 75 to 1500 people. They also offer wedding planning assistance and event coordination on the day, so you don’t have to worry about having to find your own wedding planner and event coordinator to make sure your day runs smoothly. The event space can be used for your ceremony, cocktail hour, pictures and reception which makes it an even better option! All you have to do is plan the honeymoon.
4. Rose Hall Great House - Montego Bay
This location is truly one of the most beautiful locations to have your destination wedding in Jamaica. The house itself, on the hills looking over at the Caribbean Sea in all its grandeur, is a beautiful spot to have your nuptials.
The view comes with a wedding planner so really all you have to do is choose your location and let your wedding planner know what you want. They’ll make it happen for you. You won’t run out of spots to have your wedding pictures taken either, with every spot just as perfect as the last. They have different packages that you can look at to find something within your budget as well.
5. Cinnamon Hill Great House - Montego Bay
Another great option! This home, built in 1734, does not fall short of 18th-century splendour. The home showcases the best of Jamaican architecture, furnishings and gardens filled with native plants which attract beautiful hummingbirds, the perfect spot for your destination wedding in Jamaica. This location is run by Rose Hall and so a very capable wedding planner and countless picture-perfect spots are included in the packages.
6. Sunset Gazebo - Half Moon Resort, Montego Bay
If a beach wedding with just your closest loved ones is what you have always dreamed of, then a wedding at Half Moon’s Sunset Gazebo would be perfect for you. You can get married surrounded by water and a few family and friends. Sometimes, based on religious or cultural wedding practices you may feel you can’t have a destination wedding. However, Half Moon is completely committed to helping you have the day of your dreams and that means planning your wedding including your personal traditions and practices.
What’s even more, they are your hands and feet on the island until you get here, there is no need to worry about anything related to your wedding, they’ve got it covered.
7. Mount Zion Church - Montego Bay
This beautiful old church is sitting on a hill in St. James gives you a gorgeous background for your traditional wedding in paradise. Surrounded by nature, your loved ones and the beautifully constructed Georgian architecture in this historic location is just a beautiful way to begin your new journey together.
8. 18th Century Aqueduct - Montego Bay
Complete with stunning ocean views and a waterwheel dating back to the 19th century, the ruins of the aqueduct could be the perfect wedding destination for you. The wedding photos will not disappoint either, you can even have your pictures taken at the top of the ruins.
There are countless other places to have your perfect destination wedding in Jamaica. Most places will have wedding planners and event coordinators to help you along the way and ensure that all goes according to plan on your special day.
Most places also have vendors to source flowers, catering and all the other important elements to a perfect day. The hardest thing you will have to do is show up!
