Sports Jamaican Children Play

by Karli
(US)

QUESTION: What kinds of sports do Jamaican children play? Can you tell me a little bit more about their education?

ANSWER: by Wellesley September 12, 2011

Hi Karli,

Good morning to you. Children here have numerous games they play. We play most of the sports of the Commonwealth and the Americas - of course acquired from our diverse peoples.

The major outdoor games here include Cricket, Football, Athletics (much of the world know's of our prowess here :-), netball and swimming. Basketball is also becoming a well sought after sport here too.

Indoors; many of the older, traditional games are still played, although not as widespread. You'll find them still playing card games, board games and domino though.

Of course, the online games and the game devices are also ever increasing.

Regarding their education, please take a peek at our page on education in Jamaica here for a good background.

I hope those help Karli.
