While you can certainly get vegetarian meal options at most restaurants here, there are those that caters mostly to the vegetarian and vegan crowd. Here are 12 Vegetarian Restaurants across Jamaica that are a most try.
Veggie Campus- Kingston
Veggie Campus is a popular vegetarian restaurant that offers a range of Jamaican and international dishes. They are known for their creative menu, which features innovative vegetarian takes on traditional Jamaican dishes like Jerk Tofu, Callaloo patties, and Plantain Porridge. Mi Hungry - Kingston
This raw vegan restaurant serves natural juices, desserts, and meals including pizza and burgers created with Jamaican ingredients. One of the most unique and appealing factors of this restaurant is that all their meals are sun-cooked. Yes, you read that right. No gas, no, coal. no wood. just the natural rays of the sun. Some their specials include their flaxseed-based pizza with toppings such as Ackee and Mushrooms and their raw Seaweed Rolls.
Cafe Africa- Kingston
Cafe Africa is a vegetarian-friendly restaurant that offers a fusion of African and Caribbean cuisine. Their menu features a range of vegetarian options, including lentil soup, vegetable curry, and stuffed eggplant. And you don't have to skip dessert! They offer vegan desserts, including a delicious vegan chocolate cake.
Rasta Ade Refreshments- Negril
Rasta Ade Refreshments offers a range of vegetarian dishes made with fresh and locally sourced ingredients. You will find a variety of options, including vegetarian burgers made with plantains, sweet potatoes, and of course a few dishes made from fresh vegetables. Rasta Ade Refreshments also offers fresh natural juices and smoothies.
Stush in the Bush- St. Ann
Stush in the Bush offers a unique farm-to-table dining experience. You can expect farm-fresh, natural and organic ingredients in every meal. Try their vegetable stews, salads, and vegan desserts. Stush in the Bush also offers cooking classes and farm tours, which will allow you to learn more about the restaurant's sustainable and organic farming practices.
Abba’s Cuisine- Montego Bay
This is a vegan take-out restaurant that offers scrumptious and intriguing fresh meals, juices, smoothies, and snacks. They place emphasis on encouraging and supporting a healthy lifestyle, and one of their ways of doing this is by preparing all food and beverages using organic and natural ingredients.
Chabad Kosher Hot Spot- Montego Bay
This is one of the go to Vegetarian hot spots in Montego bay. This take out restaurant has an extensive menu of vegan meals, including Jerk Falafel, Hummus, Fries, Cabbage Salad, Israeli, Tomato Rice Soup, and a selection of smoothies.
Flames Kitchen- Montego Bay
This restaurant cater to both vegan and meat diets while maintaining the flair and flavour Jamaican food is known for. They use a wood-burning oven to prepare a majority of their menu items for this very reason. A Pizza patty with vegan cheese, Vegetable Burgers, Roti, rice, spring rolls, wraps, loaded fries, spicy barbe-fry veggie balls, and natural juices are among their vegan alternatives.
The Moussa Pot- Port Antonio
This is another farm-to-table restaurant. They offer Italian, vegan and fusion options however their menu is always changing based on the ingredients that are in season.
Ballaz Restaurant & Bar- Port Antonio
While their fantastic view is great it's the delicious food that will have you going back to this restaurant. They serve both meat and vegan options and carefully prepare each to avoid cross contamination. Their menu provides a wide range of traditional Jamaican, and international vegan cuisine.
Kaya Herb House- Ocho Rios
Located next to a medical marijuana dispensary, this small pizza shop offers a variety of vegan options. Their tofu-based, vegan, personal-sized pizza with cheese is a must try. A soy-free, cashew-based alternative is also available upon request.
Calabash Ital Restaurant- Ocho Rios
This is restaurant, juice bar, and market all in one. On their menu you will find gluten free options and vegan options such as ackee, curry chunks, and a variety of soup and other vegetable dishes.
