Portland has now comfortably settled in its position as the most beautiful part of the island, a statement many Jamaicans have no issue agreeing with.

Many locals and visitors travel to the parish to capture its natural beauty and resources. However, it is not considered a tourist town, like Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Negril.

You won’t find many fancy restaurants or modern luxury all-inclusive resorts. Most accommodations in Portland are more focused on relaxation aided by nature and are more often than not, eco-friendly.

While you won't find many of your typical all-inclusive resorts, there are various accommodations choices for you. I have compiled a categorised list of the accommodations you can find in Portland.

Hotels and Resorts

Most hotels and resorts in Portland are on a much smaller scale, as a matter of fact, there are no major all-inclusive resorts in the area. What you can find though is that they offer meal packages, and most also offer complimentary breakfast.

For those who would rather have a full-staff experience where they don’t have to do much but relax and enjoy the beautiful views and exciting excursions, hotels and resorts in Portland are a great, maybe the best accommodation option. Here are some of the resorts and hotels in Portland.

Airbnbs

Airbnbs are a great option for those working with a budget. Most Airbnb in the Portland area are on a smaller scale, like most accommodations in the area. Many have as few as one or two-bedroom accommodations.

If you are travelling with a large group these definitely won't be a great option, but are great for couples, looking to spend time with each other, without the overwhelming resort charges. There are actually over 300 Airbnb in Portland alone.

If you are looking to have the most luxurious experience in portland, then a private luxury villa will be the best option for you. These tend to be a bit more expensive but also grander in scale.

They typically have an array of amenities, comparable to resorts such as private beaches and pools. With most, you also have the option of choosing whether or not you rather have the villa staffed or not.

Accommodations In Portland | Kanopi House

Portland being one of the most beautiful parishes on the island is high because so much of its surrounding and natural resources remain untouched, unvarnished, rustic even.

In keeping with that, it is also the parish where you will find the most eco-friendly resorts. Of course, these are great if you enjoy nature and the great outdoors. Most are made up of wooden buildings, outdoor shower options, and many more nature-loving aspects.

Some even use solar power, to prepare freshly picked vegetables on fruits, right from their properties.
