My Birthday Dinner At Chill Out Hut Beach Bar & Grill

After a 4 hour unplanned and eventful tour of Clarendon, Manchester, St. Ann and Trelawny, we needed a breather, and we found it at the Chill Out Beach Bar & Grill!

I had taken my wife and kids to visit her family in the countryside the day before and stayed overnight.

The idea was to get back in town (Montego Bay) pretty early the next day, my birthday, Aug 29th, but perhaps it wasn't to be.

We ended up touring all the parishes above, stopping and checking with other family members - at their home and workplaces.

Again, not what we had planned for, especially since I have been having car trouble from the previous day.

But all ended well!

My wife decided that since we were already late, we'd stop, take a break and have a 'decent' dinner as soon as we get back closer in town - and we certainly did!

We passed a few other places, but chose to continue checking.
And then we landed at Chill Out Hut!

Truly a 'Chill Out' spot indeed.

I haven't check their reviews at all, but the place is really clean, their staff professional and they do have a charming and inviting ambiance!

Nice and ample parking too!

Of course, the food was also great, and plenty! 

It does appear that their prices are a little more costly than their immediate competitors but I truly believe it was well worth it.

By the way, I think they also call the place, 'The Chill Out Fish Hut' so that would explain why most of their dishes surrounds fish and seafood.

And for the fish, you get an opportunity to see, weigh and select your fish(es) at the kitchen counter before it is cooked!

I chose a sumptuous looking 1.5 pounder and my wife a 1 pound.

About Chill Out Hut Bar & Grill

I had a brief chat with Nikki, one of their friendly staff who provided some helpful insights.

Apparently they have been operating since 2011 and has gotten better every year. 

I quizzed her about their visitor's favourite menu items, she quickly replied "The fish and bammy - both steamed fish or fried fish".

Other items on their menu includes escoveitched fish, brown stewed fish, jerk chicken, conch and shrimp.

So things changed a bit for my birthday, but it turned out just fine.
We certainly had a nice 'Chill Out' experience.

Did I tell you that they have an excellent setting for picture taking too?It really does.

Right at the border of Trelawny and St. James (Greenwood), the Chill Out Fish Hut is certainly a place to check out if you are in or around that area.

Probably worth a trip too if you are not from these parts!
