Staff of the Grand Palladium Jamaica hotel in Lucea are once again being given the opportunity to showcase their talents in the 2013 staging of Talents Of Palladium (TOP) competition, which will culminate on April 27th with a mega show at the former Jockey Factory in Lucea, Hanover.

The competition is an initiative by the Human Resources Department in conjunction with the Staff Association and is in its fourth year.
There will be cash and prizes amounting to over $1 million JMD.

Human Resources Manager at the Grand Palladium, Sheryl Wilks said, "the aim of the competition is to provide an avenue through which employees can display their talents, with the aim of launching their carrier in the field of music and entertainment."

T.O.P is formatted akin to the popular local talent competitions which are aired on television.

Despite not being totally original, Mrs. Wilks said "the employees here at the Grand Palladium are very excited, as the display of the talents that have been seems so far, is far from been rated as amateur performances. Each live performance is rated better than the previous show, as the contestants take the judges comments seriously and work on their weaknesses and accentuate their strengths."

She added: "The contestants have been putting their all into their preparations, and it shows in their performance.

There is a serious buzz across the property as a result of the excitement that the competition has generated among team members, and even our guests".

Steve Watkins aka 'Stitch Blade', and Genaro Martinez from the Maintenance department, Michelle Murray, Sanchia Lawrence, Cassandra Brooks, and Noreen Haughton of the Housekeeping department, Rushel Grant of the Entertainment department, and Tyron Small of the Dinning
Room, are the contestants who remain in the hunt for the top prize.

Negotiations are currently taking place for the signing of a major international recording artiste to perform during the April 27 final, which Mrs. Wilks said will be the biggest stage show in western Jamaica for the weekend..

Previous winners of this competition are Javon Hayles, otherwise called "Vaska" of the Mini-Bar department in 2011 and Rackel Broomfield of the Housekeeping department in 2012.
