Is Jamaica good for a family trip?

Yes! It absolutely is. Jamaica is perfect for a family trip. Jamaica is rich in culture and history, the cuisine is amazing plus there are so many fun activities for families to do together.

What part of Jamaica is best for a family vacation?

This would be dependent on what your family enjoys doing together but here are some suggestions:

  • Kingston- is awesome for families that are into history, love visiting historical sites and monuments, enjoy going to the museums and parks and love fine dining.
  • Portland- for families that love being close to nature, and have a preference for eco-friendly resorts and activities and healthy eating.
  • Ocho Rios- this is great for families that are all about adventure and thrilling activities!
  • Montego Bay- is a great option for families that enjoys staying in all-inclusive resorts and want the option of having family-inclusive nighttime activities.
  • Negril- this is for families that enjoy a calm, relaxing environment, chilling on the beach and water sports.

Where to stay in Kingston with family

Unfortunately, you wonโ€™t find any resorts in Kingston. What you will find though are high-end, luxury hotels. While most wonโ€™t have amenities that you would typically look for in a family resort, such as kiddie pools, and separate games rooms for kids or different age groups, most have all you need for a comfortable stay in Kingston. Here are my top 3 places to stay in Kingston with family.

Eden Garden Wellness Resort and Spa
The Eden Gardens Wellness Resort & Spa is a luxurious 4-star hotel conveniently situated near Kingston's downtown area. The amenities available include a gym, restaurant and bar, spa, pool, and garden. They have a variety of accommodation options including a family suite for small families that prefer to stay together.

Address: 39 Lady Musgrave Rd Kingston 5, Kingston
Phone: (876) 946-9981

Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel
A sense of Old World glamour and serenity greets you as you enter Terra Nova. It's an opulent blend of classic sophistication and welcoming, family-friendly warmth. There are several elegantly furnished suites and amenities that include a gym, pool restaurant and bar.

Address: 17 Waterloo Rd, Kingston
Phone: (876) 926-2211

Jamaica Pegasus Hotel
In the heart of Kingston, this elegant hotel is located in a Spanish Colonial-style structure. Opulent rooms and suites include complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, iPod/iPhone docks, minibars, and coffeemakers. Separate living areas are built in some units. Children under the age of 11 are admitted free when escorted by an adult. There is a relaxed cafe/bistro with local art, as well as a rooftop infinity pool and lounge. A sundeck, a sauna, and a day spa are also available.

Address: 81 Knutsford Blvd, Kingston 5
Phone: (876) 926-3691

Where to stay in Portland with family

kanopi_house.jpgKanopi House Portland

The Trident Hotel
The Trident Hotel represents the pinnacle of opulence in paradise. Because there are only 13 private oceanfront villas with views of the Caribbean Sea, this is a smaller, more intimate experience. Among the facilities are a fitness centre, spa and salon, private beach, private pools, a media room, and three restaurants serving traditional Jamaican cuisine and spirits.

Address: Anchovy, Port Antonio
Phone: (876) 633-7100

Kanopi House
This family-run resort demonstrates that luxury does not have to be harmful to the earth. The Treehouse Villas, which are scattered throughout the property, easily sleep 2, 3, or 6 persons. They are the epitome of camping. The surrounding Banyan trees provide each group with the privacy they require for a relaxing holiday with family or friends. All of the delicious meals are made from locally sourced, in-season produce, in keeping with the property's sustainable way of life.

Address: Blue Lagoon, Port Antonio
Phone: (876) 632-3213

Great Huts Resorts
Portland's Great Huts is a place to stay where comfort and creativity are combined with nature and history. They offer a variety of accommodations for groups of any size, ranging from one individual to eight. You can appreciate the works of a group of Jamaican and African artists with your family or colleagues. You can relax by the lake, practice yoga and meditation on-site, or fully immerse yourself in the available cultural experiences.

Address: 8-10 Boston Bay, Port Antonio
Phone: (876) 353-3388

Where to stay in Ocho Rios with family

moon_palace_jamaica.PNGMoon Palace Jamaica

Moon Palace Jamaica
You can find the best rooms and suites to meet your family's requirements out of over 700 rooms divided into 10 categories. There are pools all over the property, including kiddie pools for a better experience for the kids, in addition to the warm, captivating Caribbean Sea. Your kids are free to explore the playroom, naturally under the watchful eye of the attendants, as they did not stop at the pool for kids. There are several restaurants on-site, and there is even a puree foods menu for the babies.

Phone: +1-876-974-2200
Address: Main St, Ocho Rios

Hibiscus Lodge
The small resort's 26 rooms are ideal for families who want a quieter, more private getaway. Atop the cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea, on the lush tropical grounds, is where you'll find your tastefully furnished apartment. The closeness of Hibiscus Lodge to Ocho Rios is another wonderful perk of living there. To meet all of your culinary requirements, the property has a single restaurant and bar.

Address: 83 Main St, Ocho Rios
Phone: (876) 974-2676

Rio Ocho Rios
One of Riu's family retreats in Jamaica is this hotel. You or your kids won't get bored because the entertainment program is quite costly for both adults and children. Aside from the five swimming areas, there is also a kids' pool with slides and the waterpark Splash Water World. There are major themed restaurants where patrons can eat food from around the world and Jamaica.

Phone: (876) 972-2200
Address: Mammee Bay Road, Ocho Rios

Where to stay in Montego Bay with family

jewel_grande_montego_bay.pngJewel Grand Montego Bay

Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort And Spa
This resort has a variety of suites and villas that come with up to 3 bedrooms and complete kitchens, which may be appealing to you if you are travelling with kids. You can engage in a variety of motorized and non-motorized water sports there because it's a beach resort. The kids' club and teen lounge, which offer enjoyable activities for all age groups, are two of the finest features. Additionally, there is a bar close by for parents who simply want to unwind.

Address: Rose Hall Main Road, Montego Bay
Phone: +1 833-325-3935

Sea Garden Beach Resort
This lovely resort is run and managed by a family. They offer two full-size bedrooms in a family room as a lodging choice. There is a kid-friendly pool and a ton of family-friendly daytime and evening events, including board games, tennis, dance lessons, and Karaoke Night. You won't be let down if you and your family appreciate participating in water sports because they also provide kayaking, snorkelling, and aqua-fitness classes.

Address: 8 Kent Ave, Montego Bay
Phone: +1 844-742-7778

Half Moon Resort
Villas at the Half Moon resort have up to 7 bedrooms! These villas also have a complete crew, including a chef, housekeeper, and butler. Your only worry will be how to fit everything in during your visit because there is so much to do here. For kids aged three to twelve, the Anancy Children Village is one of the most noteworthy features. While being watched over by activity coordinators and nannies, the kids get to play a variety of sports and participate in a number of activities.

Address: Rose Hall St James

Where to stay in Negril with family

royalton_negril_royalton_resorts.jpgRoyalton Negril

Beaches Negril
At Beaches Negril you can ask one of the globally certified nannies to help you if you need childcare assistance while on vacation in addition to the kids club, lazy river, and waterpark. Beaches resort does a fantastic job of providing service for every member of the family, allowing the adults to enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner to commemorate a successful journey to Jamaica while the nanny is watching the kids.

Address: Long Bay, Norman Manley Blvd, Negril
Phone: +1 888-232-2437

Royalton Negril
A waterpark, in my opinion, is an essential component of any family holiday, and Royalton Negril has both one and a pool specifically for children. And if you're going on a trip with relatives who would prefer to forego the family vacation, send them to the nearby Hideaway at Royalton. They will have the choice of visiting Royalton Negril or enjoying a day of sexual entertainment, getting the best of both worlds.

Address: Norman Manley Boulevard, Negril
Phone: 1-876-619-2303

Fun Holiday Beach Resort
A less expensive option for families visiting Negril, Jamaica, is Fun Holiday Beach resort. You can choose between European and All-Inclusive vacation packages based on which one best fits your family.

Address: Norman Manley Boulevard, Negril
Phone: 876-957-9688/ 876-957-3585/ 876-957-3141
