Me encanta ver llover en Jamaica.
La lluvia es dura, persistente, ruidosa,
pero también es clara, limpia y cristalina.
Y viene acompañada de vientos refrescantes
Con la lluvia los colores cambian,
el follaje verde se vuelve esmeralda,
los lirios se ponen más blancos,
las azucenas adquieren luz propia,
las rosas y los claveles se encienden,
y las buganvilias parecen bañadas de vino tinto.
La tierra adquiere el agradable olor de la tierra mojada,
y en el mar las gotas penetran como en su casa,
salpicando millones de minúsculos chispazos de luz.
Es toda una fiesta en la que los arboles se agitan y se inclinan,
para agradecer gustosos los beneficios recibidos.
Y si la lluvia nos sorprende a ti y a mí allá afuera,
tu cabello empapado cae como cascadas de miel sobre tu rostro
y tu mirada se vuelve aun más cristalina.
Pero si mi amiga la lluvia te moja la blusa
Y a tu cuerpo se adhiere como piel calada,
Entonces corremos los dos felices a la casa,
nos hacemos el amor así, mojados,
y que afuera llueva todo lo que Dios quiera.
