Buju has been a hero of mine since my high school years! If fact, Marlon (my cousin) and I would compete on who knows and could sing the most Buju Banton songs. And this one, Untold Stories; released on the 'Til Shiloh' album in 1995, was, and remains, one of my favourite.

In my estimation, it is one of the most telling, and timeless commentaries on Jamaica social issues.
It captures or speaks to hardships, high prices, politics, rivalry, youth neglect, migration, lack of opportunities, parenting, tenacity, survival and faith and even warnings.
Here now is lyrics from the official video, and yes, I listened and typed it, word-for-word!
While I'm Living,
Thanks I'll Be Giving,
To the Most High You know...
(Chorus)
I am living while I am living to the father I will pray
Only him know how wi get through everyday
All the hike in the price
Arm and leg we haffi pay
While our leaders play
Verse 1:
All I see, people a rip and a rob all a grab
Tief neva love fi si tief wid long bag
No love for the people who a suffer real bad
Another toll to the poll may God help wi soul
What is to stop the youths from get out of control
Full up a education yet no own a payroll
The clothes pon mi back have countless eyehole.
Could go on and on the full has never been told
(Chorus)
I am living while I am living to the father I will pray
Only him know how wi get through everyday
With all the hike in the price
Arm and leg wi haffi pay
While our leaders play
Verse 2:
Mi seh who can afford to run will run
But what about those who can't... they will have to stay
Opportunity a scarce, scarce, commodity
In these time I say... When mama spend har last and send you go claaaass
Never you ever play!
It's a competitive world for low budget people
Spending di dime while earning di nickel
With no regard to who it may tickle
My cup is full to the brim
I could go on and on the full has never been told
Though this life keep getting me down
Don't give up now
Got to survive,
Someway, somehow
I could go on and on the full has never been told
(Chorus)
I am living while I am living to the father I will pray
Only him know how wi get through everyday
With all the hike in the price
Arm and leg we haffi pay
While our leaders play
Verse 3:
All I see, people a rip and a rob all a grab
Tief never love fi si tief wid long bag
No love for the people who a suffer real bad
Another toll to the poll may God help wi soul
What is to stop the youths from get out of control
Full up of education yet no own a payroll
The clothes pon you back have countless eyehole.
Could go on and on the full has never been told.
(Chorus)
I am living while I am living to the father I will pray
Only him know how wi get through everyday
All the hike in the price
Arm and leg we haffi pay
While our leaders play
Verse 4:
Mi seh who can afford fi run will run
But what about those who can't, they will have to stay
Opportunity a scarce, scarce commodity
In these time I say,
When mama spend her last and send you go class
Never you ever play
It's a competitive world for low budget people
Spending a dime while earning a nickel
With no regards for who it may tickle
My cup is full to the brim
I could go on and on the full has never been told
Could go on and on, the full has never been told
Could go on and on, the full has never been told
Could go on and on, the full has never been told
I could go on and ooooon...
The full has Never, Been, Toooooooooold.
