Congratulations Jamaica On Winning Miss World Title (Again)

by Claire Wilson
(TORONTO, Canada)

We live in Canada and we, my family, are so very proud of our little country.

Our achievements are profound and so awe inspiring to the young black youths in Canada.

Jamaica’s achievements are made through grace and class and of merit.

We truly are in inspiration to other countries. We don’t need harsh words of hatred or violence just our God-given talent of intelligence and grace.

Jamaica - land we love.

Wellesley's Note

How sweet!
You could not have said it any better Claire!

It amazes me everyday that we are able to, despite our size, the social conditions and economic circumstances, we are able to achieve so much!

You would have heard it before, we are only just a baby dot on the world map, 62 times smaller than the US state of Texas!

See How Large Is Jamaica.

I am convinced that God's hand is over this beautiful island!

She is one of an unbelievable four (4) Jamaican women who have won this prestigious title.

I made this exciting announcement here.

As it is now, based on data from world Atlas, with India and Venezuela in joint first place, Jamaica now stands a solid 4th (in the world) of countries to have won the most Ms World titles.

This Top 4 ranking reads:

1 India61966, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2017
2 Venezuela61955, 1981, 1984, 1991, 1995, 2011
3 United Kingdom51961, 1964, 1965, 1974, 1983
4 Jamaica41963, 1976, 1993, 2019

South Africa and the USA complete the top 6, both having three Miss World Wins each.

South Africa won in 1958, 1974 and 2014, while the USA won in 1973, 1990 and 2010.

That said, like you, all Jamaicans, Caribbean nationals and the wider Jamaican diaspora, I am oh so proud of Toni Ann Singh. She is truly a symbol of grace, humility, talent and personality - very deserving!

By the way, if you missed her cover of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing in support of Charity, here is the link on YouTube, absolutely beautiful!

Thanks again for your submission Claire! Much appreciated.

Meanwhile, the celebration continues here... :-)
