Whatever vacation you wish to have in Jamaica it can be provided. Montego Bay is the tourist capital of the island and it does an exceptional job of providing many different vacation options.
Travelling alone, with family or a group of adults only? Looking for comfortable, budget-friendly accommodations or sprawling, luxury all-inclusive? Montego Bay has it all ready and waiting for you.
But what about the atmosphere you want to create, the city has that covered too. If you would prefer low-key, mimosa sipping days by the beach or to experience the exhilarating nightlife in Montego Bay the choice is yours.
If the latter is what you are in search of then these are the best spots to experience nightlife in Montego Bay at its best.
At the restaurant/club/ overall hangout spot, Pier 1 is definitely the place to be if you want to experience what a typical evening in Jamaica looks like. Catering to a younger crowd, the music is mainly the latest hits from the Dancehall and hip hop genres. If you go on a Friday night, expect to leave in the early hours of Saturday morning as the parties there are all-night affairs.
Although legendary the regular weekend activities are just a normal part of the scene here in Montego Bay. However, more often than not, Pier 1 is the venue for larger, more acclaimed parties that attract persons from different parishes and countries.
For example, some of the smaller Reggae Sumfest activities are held at Pier 1 instead of the Catherine Hall Arena.
No matter the magnitude of the party, a trip to Pier 1 is nothing but fun.
The unassuming bar on the hip strip should not be taken lightly. They have been able to master not only an exciting food and drink menu, but they have created a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can just come for a night of fun.
From more relaxed nights playing pool to epic parties lasting for hours, the choice is yours. Many of the most sought-after DJs frequent Rehab quite often so you will definitely be in for a show.
One of the more unique spots in Montego Bay, Blue Beats offers up Jazz and Blues in their classy cocktail cliffside bar. The club has themed nights weekly, a live band, comedy (on some occasions) and if you hadn’t already loved this place, Asian-Caribbean fusion tapas.
During the week is great for a more demure evening but Saturdays are the crowning moment of the week. They are open literally all night during the week, operating from 6 pm-5 am from Mondays - Saturdays and closing at the very modest hour of 12 am on a Sunday.
I’m not sure what more there is to say about this one. During the day all are welcome, with wings and tasty drinks being served all day and the slide and water trampoline are very busy with adventurous children every hour in the sun.
But at night, all that changes. The kids go home and now the adults can enjoy the themed nights, guest DJs, artistes and liquor bucket deals right throughout the night.
If you take the overhead bridge from Margaritaville it will lead you to our next destination, Coral Cliff Restaurant, Bar, Casino and Arcade. The arcade is open to all ages and so is their restaurant Bubble and Spice. But, the Casino is only for adults, so if you are over 18, have your ID and are in the mood to win big then head on over to the Casino. They also have live music to accompany your dinner and if it is your birthday make sure to request your favourite song for your special day.
And since we are already on a winning streak, why not head to Treasure Hunt, the Casino in Ironshore Montego Bay (across from Riu). With the largest payout for any casino on the island, I’m sure the blackjack, baccarat, roulette and basically every other table look doubly enticing.
They host slot tournaments every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and if you're placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd you’ll get a gift.
You won’t even have to find your way there unless you want to. The Treasure Hunt shuttle service will come and pick you up from your hotel or villa in Montego Bay. The shuttle will bring you to Whitter Village where Treasure Hunt is located and you can visit the other shops around as well. There is a cost attached for your round trip.
The taboo nightclub is not on the Hip Strip or Downtown Montego Bay for that matter. For this, you head to Fairview, a 10-minute drive (depending on traffic) from the Hip Strip. I won’t say much about this one, I’ll leave you to do a little digging yourself.
The nightlife in Montego Bay has a lot to offer, so don't be shy, see and immerse yourself in as much of it as possible.
