How to Find the Best Deals on Cheap Fares to Jamaica
By C. Holness, Associate Writer

Looking to book a flight to Jamaica but have to work within a budget?

Or perhaps you are trying to plan your vacation and simply want to ensure that you are getting the best deal possible on your airline tickets; allowing you to have a little left over to spend as you choose during your stay.

If this is the case, then you will certainly find these tips for securing the lowest prices in airfare very helpful in planning your Jamaican holiday or visit.

And by the way, the fact that we are such a popular destination means that there are many different airlines that fly here, which also increases your chances of finding a great deal even more.

It's A Matter Of Timing

If you want to get a good price on your flight to Jamaica, it's a good idea to always try to book as much in advance as possible, ideally at the same time that you book your accommodations.

The longer you wait to reserve your tickets the more it will end up costing you as prices tend to be higher when they are closer to the departure date.

Winter is prime travel time to sunny destinations like Jamaica, and consequently the most expensive time as well, which is why booking as early as September is advisable for winter flights.

Generally, the months with the fares which tend to be the cheapest are May, October, and November.

Charter Flights

Charter flights differ from scheduled airline flights in that they are organized by and booked through either a travel agency or a tour company which has already booked the use of the plane for a specific date and time.

And so, unlike regular tickets, charter fares are not more costly closer to the departure date. In fact they may be even cheaper, as the booking agent has already essentially paid for the seats and is eager to sell them off.

Popular tourist destinations such as Jamaica will usually have several charter flights available as a more affordable option for travellers who are not concerned with the possible delays which may result in the event of a change of aircraft.

Get a Package Deal for Greater Savings

Unless you plan on staying with friends or family during your time in Jamaica and have no need for accommodations, it can pay off to book your flight and hotel in a package deal, which saves money on both.

However, if you subscribe to a frequent flyer plan of any kind, you will not be able to redeem them this way, so you will just have to hang on to them for another time.

Overall, packages are a good way to go that many travellers choose to help cut their vacation costs.

Consider a Non-Direct Flight

If you don't mind an extra stop or two, it can also come out cheaper to select a flight that is not non-stop.

As a rule of thumb, most flights out of major cities are less than those leaving from smaller, less busy airports, so it can be worthwhile to first fly to the nearest major city and then depart to Jamaica from there.

It can take more time, but compensates for this inconvenience with the money it can save.

Use Airfare Alerts

Airfare alerts are websites which automatically notify you when a good deal matching your flight origin, destination, and dates comes up.

Subscribers will receive an email to let them know of new offers available which meet their criteria.

This can be a handy tool for finding some of the top cheap fares to Jamaica and it costs absolutely nothing to sign up! Some of the most popular airfare alert sites are:
