A vacation in Jamaica can be your perfect retreat (or treat) away from home.
Whether you are coming for a romantic getaway with someone special, a holiday retreat with friends or to be the life of a party, there is something here for you.
The beautiful beaches and rivers, the cascading waterfalls, the sumptuous food, the alluring reggae music, the world famous attractions and historical sites, the warm spirit of the people, and even the sports- that we are so famous for, presents interesting options and considerations while you are here.
The first step however to a really successful vacation in Jamaica, starts with deciding what sort of trip you will be taking.
Single, couple or family? Adventure, relaxation or romance? Determining the ideal atmosphere is essential to finding the perfect island spot and getting the most out of your holiday trip or vacation.

The most popular tourist destinations over here right now are Negril, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, the South Coast and Port Antonio.
The South Coast and Port Antonio areas offer a more sedate and serene atmosphere that could be ideal if you really just want to relax and get some quiet time. It could also be an opportunity do some nature trails and meet and learn more about the true Jamaica with the rural country folks.
Montego Bay, of course been the tourist capital of Jamaica has a lot more buzz. However you will also find many unique attractions to enjoy in and around 'Mobay'. The famous Rose Hall Great House, Animal Farm, Rockland's Bird Sanctuary and the once therapeutic Doctor's cave beach are easy examples.
A famous destination for vacation in Jamaica, Negril is almost a little country in Jamaica by itself. Negril is for party lovers they say! Whether you are young or old, Negril has something for you.
Negril also host the famous Rick's Cafe, which is considered one of the 1,000 places to go before you die and the adored 7 miles of pure white sand beaches. More on my famous places in Jamaica page.
Ocho Rios is considered the most romantic of the tourist destinations in Jamaica. Every year hundreds of people journey over to "Ochie" to tie their knots.
Ocho Rios is also just two miles from the world famous Dunns River Falls. The Green Grotto Caves, and the exciting Dolphin Cove Attraction are in its vicinity.
Ocho Rios and Montego Bay currently boast the two most popular casinos in Jamaica, The Treasure Hunt and Coral Cliff Gaming Lounge, respectively.
But please, don't let me dictate to you where to go, you decide.
Please bear in mind also that many of the most exciting attractions are not necessarily found at these, the popular tourist destinations, but in fact may be outside or somewhere in between.

Booking a vacation in Jamaica is quite easy. Now, there are lots of online vendors and reservation systems that compliments the conventional methods. Some may even offer a few distinct benefits over the traditional methods. Bottom line, make sure you choose the option you are more comfortable with.
One option that has become more popular is to rent timeshare. Timeshares are traditionally for people who plan to return to Jamaica again and again. But these facilities can be rented out from the owners for a predetermined week at a time. One of the biggest reasons for their rise in popularity, is that you get the high quality amenities that often surpass hotels, but you can find a timeshare rental on-line, for a fraction of the cost. This may be worth considering as you plan.
